OBJECTION! SPECULATION!
OBJECTION! SPECULATION!
You took too much man, too much, too much
shit, the chickadees are gonna give us covid?
FL is where the loner dorks and assholes hang out. partiers, not so much, until spring, anyway. id be more worried about snowpine and tram club and bucketeria. [the latter not because of any carelessness of the buckheads but just the reality of a few dozen people eating in one room at once. I dig the idea of breakfast and briefing at watsons for early am patrol.]

Snowbird was pretty rough this morning. Off piste under little cloud was refrozen coral.
Big departure from how well everything was skiing thursday and friday at alta....
Yea I was pretty pessimistic a week or two ago (to the point where I bought a new touring setup), but it seems like things are at least trending in the right direction. As long as we dont skyrocket again, I think the state will be hesitant to close the resorts with vaccines on their way. Agree tighter restaurant restrictions will likely come first.
Skied three days at Alta last week and at no point felt unsafe. Prob wont be riding the tram this year, but otherwise it may be a semi-normal season? The biggest shock was how uncrowded it was Thursday and Friday... Collins was jammed for the AM, but I never waited more than a couple minutes on wildcat.
it won't be the state closing anything. it will be labor shortage.
Unemployment rate first, people's health second. This is utah!!
Head's up for those interested - Alta Community Enrichment is hosting a free online Covid info event tomorrow with Dennis Keith, a super knowledgeable public health consultant. He is generously donating his time and expertise. Ask questions / give input and help keep the lifts spinning this year. This is independent of the lift company and town of Alta. I know it would help ACE's efforts if people can pre-register online.
I’ve spent a bit of time at Brighton so far and one observation I made is that since nobody is carpooling and nobody really wants to bus, the lot fills up VERY quickly and there is not much of a crowd on the hill.
Add that the unified and resorts will work together to restrict uphill road traffic when lots become full and we have less on mountain traffic, which could be nice if the resorts can actually stay open.
I know who ac is talking about, i was just butthurt to be accused of being part of that clique. he's definitely right, though, and the scary thing is many of them will be moving up canyon next week.
And I was just unnecessarily stirring the pot. But more employees moving in and high pressure is a recipe for disaster. Anywhere people are eating in groups together indoors has high transmission potential, be it Watson or the buck. Really sucks that the dbags at the snow pine and tram club have the bars open. The snow pine is just greedy where as the owner of the tram club is full on MAGA virus denier. But both are super short sighted.

The Tram Club is actually a different business, leasing the space from Snowbird. It fits that the owner is a MAGA douche; they have been known to treat People of Color very, very poorly there.
hey guys, not trying to harsh anybody's mellow here but this is the wasatch STOKE thread. some assorted drival too.
not the bitch about snowbird thread
not the polyass bullshit thread
not the complain about masks or mask enforcement thread
i know there's a lot going on and it's a super fucking stressful time, and while having a place to talk about this shit is important, honestly i come here for the stoke, and i don't think i'm the only one.
i don't give a fuck what sort of stoke you post - lowtide shenanigans stoke, chair skiing, beer drinking, or just sunset stoke, but please, i need some sustenance in these high pressure times.

However this is also a thread for:
CONDITIONS: A virus threatening to shut down our recreation and jobs
OBSERVATIONS: People aren't doing enough to prevent the above
ASSORTED DRIVAL: All of this has been directly related to happenings in the Wasatch ski world.
