He denies any agreement between Canyons and Forest Service regarding access via 9990.
No refunds to people who purchased pass for bc access.
People are going to have a tough time swallowing this pill. Access via Peak 5 SUCKS! I wonder whether the upper traverse inbounds will remain open? If so, will a patroller be permanently stationed at the Red Pine Chutes rope? There is very easy access to Square Top and the rest of the crest north of 9990 and south of Murdochs
Gaining the ridgeline to ski anything other than the Python Chutes from Peak 5 is a big pain in the ass. It's not terrain that makes sense for that task at all.

I guess I'm just ducking ropes this year and going ikon the next.

Bad options all around, but not surprising they did this. Maybe they'll put a gate at the top of saddleback for alternative access other than Peak 5, but I doubt it.

I wonder if there will be a skintrack up dutches in the trees on worthwhile days, would beat the lift accessed alternative IMO

The chairlift and all inbounds terrain accessed from 9990 is on private land owned or leased by PCMR. There is no legal obligation to provide access to backcountry skiing on FS land if the resort is operating on private land. When resorts operate on leased FS lands, there is often a stipulation in the lease requiring some form of BC access, but in this case the FS has zero influence on PCMR's decision. Lot of thoughts on this I may get into one day, but Mike Goar is always right.

Nah, the skin track will be on MacDonald's where there is no patrol shack close by.
Is that hut still up at O Bowl? It's been a while

I80 closed both directions and an evacuation recommendation for Summit Park. Looks like the start was not far below Parley's summit. Wishing eveyone up there the best.

It looks ugly up here. I'm on the far side of Pinebrook from it.

Summit Park refugees are en route to our house and we are packing in case things really go sour.

Hearing reports that Lambs is also getting evacuated. 2000 acres already. Tankers are in the air.

If any summit park mags need a place to stay in SLC, you got a place here. Our guest bed is already taken but we have a Exped air mattress that's real comfy.

My son's friend rents a place in Summit Park. He lives alone with his tortoise, Boa, exotic bird, and iguana. He has no place to stay. I might put him up, but my son has the LSAT tomorrow.

We’re away from PC today but live at the far end of pinebrook (near Ecker middle school) How bad is it? We’re in CO and trying to figure out if we need to rush back to collect non replaceables.

Any chance you have a key somewhere so a friend or mag could help out?

Unfortunately the one time I decide to lock the garage door to house, a fire breaks out. If it gets bad enough, a friend has offered to grab some things so I think we’re set. May have to give them ok to break a door though…

We live near the top of Timberline. Got out safe with some key things and our dog. Hope everyone is doing ok. Everyone I saw in Timberline was bailing out. Worried about pets whose owners weren’t home though. Plus anyone who stays...Those fires can move fast, and the sheriff said if it passes the ridge, they won’t have anything new to throw at it.

Met a few neighbors for the first time, including detrusor (in person at least), which was a random plus during a rough day.

Nice to have in person FF!

Last call was that if fire crests the ridge they are withdrawing and not offering assistance.

Probably should have grabbed the Aurelian Ducroz LP’s……

If anybody knows anyone who needs help or a place to crash I've got a truck and a guest bedroom and plenty of space for more air mattresses down here in Sandy.

Was expecting gondola updates not fire danger. Hoping the fire avoids everyones homes.

    Damn, that's scary.

I have a spare bedroom in Sandy I'm happy to offer up to anyone who needs it.
