Surprised to see snow levels as high as they were this morning.

Wind did some damage to exposed slopes, but trees were prime. Looking forward to Thanksgiving storm cycle.

Managed to not hit any stumps or rocks. Anyone head up willow fork? Any snow up there or did it all blow away? Almost headed up but the knob looked bare

Tons of wind up high. Decent snow. A few rocks here and there but generally great skiing

Now it looks like a good time fighting with brush.

I think a dozen motivated peeps could so serious damage in a day and reclaim some decent acreage from the invading brush. There are obvious issues with removing trees on FS land but it could be a fun activity once the biking goes to shit and the snow isn't there yet. Beers and good company could make it a tolerable project for a day. Scotties and the Gobblers aprons are also candidates.
couple days late to this one.

Ifn yer wanted a tree thinning on aregenta just put a renegade mtb trail down it and the forest circus will cut down the trees for you.

Side note as I’m a newbie here - this thread is awesome. Looking forward to learning from the group and getting after it this season. If anyone sees a brown van in town with CA plates and an ON3P sticker - don’t curse the foreign jong - and instead come grab a (socially distant) beer. I always have a full fridge.

More traffic than if the ski area was open. Skier compaction is good.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Decent skiing today, where we went it was wind buff, fast and smooth. Maybe worst possible conditions for doggos though, he was sinking all the way in and struggling to keep up. I had to carry a 60 pound dog in my arms for one and a half runs. He hates being picked up but did not protest today!

It’s definitely an awkward phase of wanting to learn and trying to find the right way to get experience and without being a total mooch or slowing people down too much - so that offer is super appreciated! Will send you a dm on that front.

Another question for the collective: For someone living in PC who wants to get weekday morning skinning in before work, is parking at the Mid-Mountain Trailhead and skinning up to empire pass / guardsman the way to go (and fair game)? Not looking for any secret spots, just a reliable spot to practice skinning, get the legs stronger, and get some fresh air before I’m stuck behind a desk the rest of the day.

That's not a bad place to skin before Deer Valley opens, but they probably won't be too stoked once operations begin as you'll be in DV boundaries unless you stick to the road.

PCMR allows you to skin to where the gondola mid-station used to be once they open for the season. There are a few other options in PC proper that aren't in ski area boundaries, but some pass through or are on private property so you'll have to figure those out on your own

If I'm going for a dawn patrol in PC, it's usually to skate ski in round valley as they start grooming pre dawn. Unfortunately, PC is on the wrong side of the range for good touring options that don't require you riding a chairlift to access.

If you have a PCMR pass the best touring is from the Ninety-Nine 90 lift

Thanks for the info! Was planning on sticking to the road if I end up on over by the DV side after they open. Definitely wanting to respect the resorts and private property.

i dont think the po po have the juistiction to prevent anyone from doing business in either canyon

saw that coming. gonna be a junkshow.

Maybe UDOT should hire "gate keepers" to work the canyon entrances since I'm sure paying cops to do that work isn't the most economical option.

Nothing better than getting a few monitor laps in from BCC and then watching the lift served folks show up.

I only bought a Brighton Twilight pass, but I'm even considering deferring that to next year. Not getting the kiddo out skiing for a year is the only reason I'm debating it at all. This season is going to be nuts.

They did that last year and shared the job posting. I think it payed something like $15/hr, seasonal, only work when it snows. Sounded like a horrible gig.
