LL Report 8-17, Good news, bad news

good news: Pow turns were had. There was about knee deep freshies on the front side.

Bad news: The whole world was here and as expected Marte wasnt open. The lift lines were pretty dang incredible. About 45minutes on Caris!?!?! Around 2pm it got a bit better and was down to 15 minutes.

Really bad news: An Avie bent one of the poles for Volcano so its fucked. No one knows for how long and we couldnt really get close or get a real accurate report.

Therefore we were left with Cenidor which was fun, but not Marte fun or even backside of Volcano fun.

Beautiful day today. bluebird, reasonably cool so the snow didnt get to killed. There were some sizeable avies prolly from all the wind last night. The wind was just whipping the snow everywhere.

Hoping for some Marte love tomorrow!

Holy carp! That sucks about Volcano...but not surprising as both that lift and Marte have been rebuilt numerous times due to avies knocking right into them. Hope those crowds go away for September, but I have a feeling the entire continent (of NA) will be there (yes, I think I'm partly responsible for that on this Board ) ahh, whatever.

    But Post some pics, chump!

For one week in September I'm changing my name to Poacher Dave.

Typical, where was the avi control work during the storm? I can not believe volcano is down and knowing them probably down for the season.

Couple of weeks ago they did quite a good job on bombing during the storm. 24h banging there. One patrolman joked that they used more explosives in the last 9 days, that they had used last season.
But yeah, all the lifts (minerva, volcano and even caris) is under danger of
being knocked out in any sizeable avies.

But,a one of the few actual lifts that run from time-to-time,being knocked out is not fun..

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

No marte, no volcano. Talked to a pistero last night in the wine bar and he says Volcano could be 15-20 days although that is sounding ambitious to me. He also talked about a potential plan for next year where a lift goes up the valley from Santa Fe and then a poma is put in to access the top to help with access during the rather frequent windy periods.

The wind on Neptuno was pretty strong and they shut it around 2.

Cenidor is getting a little old. They are talking about another storm this weekend and it looks like the wind isnt going to get any better. Thinking of bailing to Bariloche for our last few days just to get some actual skiing in rather than standing in the Caris lift line...

Broke my fritchi today which has added to the bad news. What a freaking great place with cool terrain and people, but man is it frustrating.

Already said, wait till next Thursday for picts. dont have any action ones yet anyway so nothing too amazing to come.

Lacking touring partners at the moment as my group is definitely not touring. Have definitely met a bunch of cool people, but everyone is trying to figure out what to do, waiting at Santa Fe for Marte, touring a bit, but mostly standing in line and drinking copious amounts of wine at night.
