F+R Disc brakes, What can I expect to pay?

I'm thinking about get F+R disc brakes for my Specialized Stumpjumper. Some friends recommended getting Shimano XT. My big question is how much does usually cost (parts, labor, etc)?

For a start, you could check out the online shops to find out how much they cost, right?

I checked some and saw prices for the discs and calipers. Is that all I need, or are there other part and materials needed? I'll admit that i'm a uneducated jong on the matter and this is a impulse decision and purchase.

The big question is whether or not you have disc mounts on your hubs already. If not, time for some new wheels.

and disc tabs on the frame and fork too?

if you go with mech discs you can use the same levers you have and just buy the rotor, and caliper (maybe a adaptor)
    install is fast/easy $20-30 at a shop...

also 70%+ of the stopping power is from the front brake, maybe just do the front end?

Screw it. Bite the bullet and buy a set. The difference is like you can't believe.
