Quick book review for ya:

Cosmic Banditos ("CB"), by A.C.Weisbecker (the author of In Search of Captain Zero, also on the Lemon's most loved books list)

If you should decide to buy either, link from his page to amazon or go to a local store.

Ummmm where to start?

CB is a wild and wondrous book basically describing the ascendancy of one of our time's greatest drug runners, philosopher king's and quantum machinists all rolled into one binging cerebral desperado. I immensely enjoyed CB, it is a relatively quick read that has moments of both supremely quick wit and the kind of mountingly absurd scene creation that fans of Arthur Dent's misadventures will appreciate (HST as well and while I see where the comparison comes from I don't like it as much as HHGTTG's comparison). Numerous times I had to just stop and laugh. It took me a while to get with the relentless footnoting but once I did, I found them to be quite as enjoyable as the rest of the book.

Well written, fast paced, nicely cerebral, witty, fun etc... ISoCZ is also a great read if you get the chance.

3/4 lemons (as always, 1 lemon is still totally good reading and 4 is reserved for the pure masterworks).

Other super short reviews (been remiss on them and they're out of memory a bit soo...:
Japanland, A year in search of Wa- Karin Mueller. Got an advance proof. It was good, perhaps a little chicky for my tastes but well done, especially if you like Japan. 1/4 lemons (still totally worth reading).
Cadillac Desert - BAM, how the west was drowned. 100% required reading for Westerners, equally offensive to libs and conservatives. 2/4 lemons (only that low cause it stalls out occasionally)
The Man in the High Castle - Phillip K. Dick. Whoa. Fab read, alternate universe with the allies losing WWII. Well wrought. Biting social commentary, sweet plot. 3/4 lemons
