I'm a filthy crack whore...and Vets is too...

    But we like it!

So two Sundays ago, I decided to roll out of bed, eat breakfast at noon, sit around and watch tv, and then go skiing. So I fired up the 4Runner, tossed my lonely and neglected ski box on top, decided to do some off roading, and catch a little scenery...

I had scoped The Patch out the day before and decided it just wasn't good enough. You see, if you're going to splurge on crack it might as well be plentiful. Like this...

So I buckled up my boots and tossed on my favorite skis. *%$cough#$# Please spancer me! #$#cough@#%

The obligatory point...and I was off...12 months in a row!

At some point a couple of motorcyclists pulled over and took some pics of me with their camera phones. Skiing in August...who would of thunk it.

So after 3 or 4 laps I decided to finish off my fine little vial of rock with a hike the other side for a nice view...

    ...and a little skiing...

    Hmmm...yeah...that about covers it.

So at this point I jumped back in the car and headed down the hill. Dreaming of my fine day of skiing. Thinking of lines in the future and lines in the past.

    I love Tahoe.

But wait...what's this?! On my way down I spot a fellow junkie...and a familiar car... It's Vets!

So I roll up like five oh and scare the bejesus out of him.

"Hey man, got some rock you wanna share?"

    "Sure, mang."

    Crack is fun!

What a day! Road access perfect corn, hiking for turns, sharing it with a good friend, and only a billion more years before we catch up to Endless.

It was great skiing with you again Arty!
Yes, I am a junkie. I'm heading back up for more patch skiing today. Does your new job give corn-day summer ski breaks? I'll call you on the way up.
I love the artsy-Arty ride mirror shot:

I haven't been to Tahoe enough to recognize places. Is that first photo from roughly the Diamond Peak/Incline Village area?

Heh! I didn't realize how deceptive that pic was. That's a pic of one of the Blue Lakes. It's about halfway between South Lake and Kirkwood.

    I got another fix yesterday.
I finally figured out the timer function on my camera.
Here I am on "The Patch":

More pictures are here if you care to see Baka, Sputnik, and what is left of the snow.

Who else thinks Vets should change his user name to Piano Legs?

I returned today, August 19. "The Patch" sounded a lot like the wicked witch of the west when she said "I'm melting, I'm melting!"
This weekend will probably be the last hurrah for "The Patch" this summer. The throat between the upper and lower parts is much narrower. There are more rocks showing on the thinning upper part and the lower part is quickly shrinking upward.
Here are a couple pictures from today:

The first picture is on the upper section of the patch.
The second is the throat between the upper and lower part.
