The Sheeva 11 in 172 is slightly softer than the 172 R11 due to the center stringer of wood being different but that’s really the only difference between it and R11. As you go down in size the DRT metal piece also gets smaller. I think we did a pretty good job scaling them by size.

Ladies tend to love them. The reaction I’ve gotten at demos is always been pretty positive. Just like R11 they all say they’re amazed how fun they are on groomers for how well they float.
Came across a pair of 172 Rustler 11s. Very smooth and even flex, and not stiff or planky at all. Instant buy,
What surprised me was that a pair of 172 Sheeva 10s felt noticably stifffer underfoot. Is the 9s even stiffer underfoot? I don't expect them to be "stiff" as such, but how much stiffer than the 11s are they?
Considering picking up a pair of Sheeva 9s for her as well.

the titanal bands are a bit longer on R10s, so that could partially be what is causing the difference.

I've also experiened some differences between the two r11 pairs I've owned - one being noticeably stiffer than the other - so it could just be that you found a pair at one end of the spectrum. They should be awesome regardless, and if anything a softer pair might be an even more ideal and less demanding soft snow ski while still retaining the shape that make them so versatile.

For me the main difference between r10s and r11s is indirectly related to how they flex and perhaps more related to torsinal stiffness provided by the added titanal - r10s are more turny and prefer shorter turns while r11s are a bit looser and very happy doing long turns - wrt to harder snow / groomers that is, but are fabolous in soft snow regardless of turn shape. Both are great skis - though I wish R10s were a bit closer to R11s wrt long turn capability. Neither is very demanding imho.

Ok, thanks. Ridiculous deals at SC and SB at the time being, so ended up with Sheeva 9 as well. N+1 for the GF as well

Where do you ski? My wife has the Hoji Ws and loves them. She isn’t a super technically strong skier either. Only been skiing about 5 years. Perfect as part of a two ski inbounds quiver for her.
