    Body Armor?

I know this should probably be in the gear swap section, but hey, fuck it.
Anybody know where i could find some goo dbody armor, 661 maybe for cheap? I want it for skiing, and am not a big biker, so im a bit out of the loop. Anybody have some in a a small or possibly a medium, or know some good websites?

Go to beyondbikes.com, they have the best prices on 661 stuff. I'm lovin my pressure suit. I fell off a ladder into rocks/bushes and also missed a turn resulting in a death roll into rocks, didn't hurt at all. I don't feel that I should ride right after a storm anymore.

*However, I believe that bike stuff is artificially high in price, I do remember seeing decent looking body armor in ski shops for around $50.

Also check motorcycle shops /websites. They sell the same stuff for less and have a huge selection.

    WOULD IT!?!"

Yea, i have seen a couple things in ski shops, but they all looked pretty inferior, someone should really make some good ski specific stuff, with rib cage protection for rails too, but thanks for the intel guys

MTB stuff may not work under ski clothes.

    Check this stuff out:

I use dainese armor any day where I'm planning to go big, comps, pow days, etc.

Lightweight, great fit, not hot, and burly. Some of my buddies have 661 stuff and when they try on mine they feel jealous.

Check out mountain bike forums on the internet.

I second Phunk on the Dianese. But 661 has an entirely new winter collection coming out this year, looks a bit like the Dianese stuff and my 661 rep swears that the fit problems with the pads staying in place is better. Only the Elbows and the spine armor are plastcic the rest is EVA foam. MSRP is only 180 easily half the Dianese...

Any idea of the release date on the winter gear?? Sounds worth taking a look at.
I've got more suits than Liberace, but less than Eastvailhucker.

I just ordered the new Fox Launch jacket. It's quite nice, better quality than those previously mentioned imho.

Excepting of course Dainese. They definitely have the most refined gear, but boy do you pay for it.

I agree... That stuff looks almost exactly like the new Azonic armor which can be had even cheaper and would appear to be better ventilated. I have the Azonic stuff and it's not bad, although the shoulders are a little bulbous imho.

So how does all this stuff fit under ski stuff, and a backpack?

Dainese fits fine under ski stuff. I can tell ya how the 661 fits when I get home, if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

Mmm... bagtagley absolutely hates his Azonic armor. He said the zipper died very quickly and those stretchy adjustment straps on the arms b.l.o.w.

The 661 is pretty bulky looking, in my experience.

I agree with that. The only problems I've had with the zipper is that it seems to be a womens zipper (wrong side), so maybe I ended up with the stuff they make for the hefty ladies... Don't get me wrong, it's not Dainese, but I like it a lot better than the 661 stuff and considering I pay a little more than free for Azonic stuff, I'll live with it. I was just pointing out as a cheaper alternative.

edit - btw, I think they came out with a different design this year... This is what I have

yeah, i probably wouldn't buy it if i lived in the southwest, but it seems to get great comments here.. i went with separate components (shoulder/chest + arm pads) for more flexibility for conditions. the weather tends to fluctuate a lot here.

i'm likin' the looks of that fox armor as it's not so bulky. Dromond, give us a shout as to how that fits under a ski jacket (w/backpack).

    Fashion Show!

Damn my hair is huge. It's like Napoleon Dynamite in a ninja suit.

Anyways, the suit looks very good. Higher quality and a more "euro" snug fit than the 661 or rockgardn suits I've seen. It fits me perfectly without cranking on any straps. It has decent ventilation a strong, flexible back plate. The shoulders poke out a bit but I think they probably aught to.

It fits very comfortably under a shell jacket, although it looks a tad goonish. A backpack fits without problems. While I got it for riding, I'll probably wear it skiing if I'm feeling especially brave/stupid/vulnerable.

IMHO, this is the closest you will get to Dainese without the price tag.

The suit: Fox Launch, sz large

    Me: 5' 11" 175#

    Without suit:

You have any relatives that went to Blair Academy dromond? You look like a clone of a kid who graduated last year.
