    Toots Hibbert

    Just read about his death.

I’ve been a fan for a long time. Seen him perform about a dozen times over the past 25 or so years. Met him once before a show on the Vineyard. Super nice and always full of positive energy. Thanks for the music Toots.

Edit to add - Pomp and Pride was our wedding song 20 years ago...

Oh man I remember watching that guy at the Truckee regional Park back in the day. Super fun times... He was always super energized.

Toots spent 18 months in a Jaimaican jail for marijuana possession.
Supposedly set up because for some reason, they didn't want him to go
on his first international tour. 54-46 was my number was written in
    jail.

The guy invented the name reggae.

I posted a 2017 version of this in the other thread but:

    Classic Maytals:

There's a great episode of Live at Daryl's House (episode 28 ) but I can't find the whole episode online. Here's a clip:

Just read that Toots has passed.

    What a legend.

Will never forget Green Key weekend in spring of ‘98. He and the maytals played an outdoor show at AD (Dartmouth frat that animal house was based on) Height of college bacchanalia for me.

I was there! I was a recent graduate at HHS; What a day...we hit up the ropeswing, grabbed some natty lights in the basement and smoked a joint with Toots on the stoop out front.

RIP Toots. I know you're on that country road heading home
