Waffle House does not qualify as a nice expensive restaurant

An average steak cooked at home is better than the best pork chop I've ever had in a restaurant. Steak every time.

I’ve had some pretty incredible pork chops at restaurants that were heads and shoulders above a simple home cooked ribeye.

Cooking a steak perfectly at home is super easy. I don’t really order steaks at a restaurant, because they are often super expensive and easily replicated at home. I rarely go to steakhouses, if I’m spending that kind of money out, it’s seafood.

Cooking a porkchop is a whole different ballgame, to do it best you have to get thick cut, bone in, high quality pork... not the salt solution packed budget stuff. You have to brine it; just simple water, sugar, salt. Salt pepper and Grill it to 130deg. Let it rest and come up to 135. Good quality pork can be eaten med-rare, where it’s juicy and awesome. Pork chops are hard to hit right cause that window is 130-140ish where they are money. Steak is good 120-155ish before it starts to dry out..

I’ll order a porkchop at a nice restaurant knowing that it will likely be awesome and I won’t be able to replicate it at home.

I will often buy porkchops at the high end grocery because they are high quality and often on sale.

I still love steak - steak is a home cooked, special occasion meal for me.
