Had some espresso with the Washed Sidra from Galo Morales and man was it great espresso. The funny thing is that I initially thought the shot would be bad, the grind was too coarse and the pressure quickly tailed off when maintaining a flow rate of 1.2 g/s. Little crema and I thought I’d be diluting it with water and making an americano out of it. But man was it tasty, very floral and stone fruit notes. So then of coarse I think well I’ll do even better and tighten the grind. Pulled an almost textbook light roast shot, 10 second infusion and 40 g out for a total of 1:10 that started at 10 bar and faded to 4, but it wasn’t close to as good.

I don’t know what thread to put this in….

Nearly a decade of using a pour over, french press, or moka pot for our daily dose - we left the Stone Age and bought a Moccamaster. With kid 2, “manual” brewing didn’t make sense anymore. This device is badass. Debated and overanalyzed all of the different “pour over style” brewers - glad we landed on this simplistic machine. In love.

After rereading some of this thread I feel my coffee making is on par with "skis in jeans." I "upgraded" from my hand grinder to an electric burr grinder a couple years ago, now I don't have to attach the makita to the hand grinder. The hand grinder has turned out to be a fantastic pepper grinder. My typical coffee is made with my trusty mocha pot with about a half full coffee basket. If I'm making for 2 peeps I have a nice double wall stainless steel French press. Anyways, time for my second cup and a doobie on the dock. In jeans.

The beans are the most important part. Unfortunately going to an electric burr was probably a downgrade in quality. But a mocha pot is perfectly capable of making a great cup of coffee.

Nice. I've wanted one for years, but the wife drinks tea and I only drink one cup so it doesn't make sense.

Moccamasters are worth every penny. I actually crave the coffee it brews when I’m away from home. Ours is paired with an electric burr grinder.

@dantheman, I believe they make a single cup brewer

They do, but for one cup it doesn't offer much convenience over a manual method.

Yo, I'd happily take some. The stuff you left at my place was better than anything I can find locally.
