    August Turns Photo Essay

Vets, divegirl, and a friend of Vets went to hit some patches off of Carson Pass on Saturday. I tagged along for a nice rehab hike and took some pictures. I'm sure Vets will post a more detailed report soon but here is my contribution:

The first patch on the trail to Fourth of July Lake.

The second patch on the Sisters.

    Log reflected in Roundtop Lake.

    Classic ridge scrambling.

    Vets shredding the chute.

    divegirl getting some.

    Vets arcing the Bros.

    divegirl following.

    The Sisters.

    Roundtop.

And the flowers were absolutely going off.

And finally the SUPER RAD HELLA SICK EXTREME VIDEO of divegirl on the first patch.

    Spectacular pics I may add.....

Well....that's funny because I went to the "main patch" for about two hours on Saturday...TR to follow.

I didn't have enough time to hit it....but I was eyeing that same area....far looker's right of Roundtop? I was even considering the looker's left slot of Moon Crescent....was it skiable? It looked like it may have been possible but for a small unskiable section near the bottom.

    LegoSkier,

Great pictures! I love the artistic B&W as well as the colorful flowers.
You didn't just tag along. You set the pace on the hike up. Signs that you are coming back strong!

    skier666,

I was at the "main patch" (right) as well as the "center patch" solo on Friday.
I plan on getting what is left of it a couple of times this week.
On Sunday MJ and I skied the "W" patch below Roundtop and the "saddle" patch between Roundtop and The Sisters, and also a repeat of The Sisters patch we skied on Saturday.

I'm putting together pictures from both days. I'll post a TR and add a link here when it is up.

Many hikers had that wtf are these kooky skiers up to look. Some had nice comments too though. The rain on Saturday and Sunday was pretty light up there for the most part and actually made the snow feel better. Some runnels were already present in some places before the rain. On Saturday we did a loop starting at Woods Lake and finishing up at Carson Pass. Sunday I started and finished at Woods Lake. I might go back for more this coming Sunday.
