Night skiing out west just doesn’t hold the same caché. There’s no youthful romance to it.

    Your loss Ben, I’m sorry.
Good times right there. A little guns n’ roses or AC/DC on the PA and talking shit to your friends on the chair in front of you.

If you can ski glare ice at night you can ski anything.

There's night skiing in the northeast too. Bolton Valley FKNA and FTW!!! And shit, even Stowe lit up the Gondola for a few years. That's actually legit terrain with decent vertical. I never rode it at night, but I imagine it was a party while it lasted.

So that’s west mtn, huh. Nice looking pitch - I’d hit it for sure.

Been night skiing forever. Parents volunteered on patrol - punched our tickets for a few nights a week , first Milton snow bowl then they were on patrol at hidden valley up in Jersey alps when they first opened- I remember riding home with a blank trail map after a refresher pre opening season - trail naming contest!

Night racing in high school - careful balance between getting totally fucked up and actually trying to compete.

I think it’s time to make some lemonade.

    Need to look into this.

I've driven by it 1000+ times heading to Gore but never skied there until my kids joined ski club.

I literally just got back from night skiing. Dropped my daughter at ski club at Bristol and I lapped the nordic loop at the top of the mountain. Was bliss. Am now consuming everything in the house.

Wait, you southern skiers ate grits between runs??

Midwest night skiing was a blast growing up. I had no idea ski edges sprayed sparks when hitting rocks until i saw it happen one night at Cascade Mountain.

At our particular Midwest bump it took exactly the amount of time to burn one grit to get to the top of the fixed triple.

That or one can of Busch Light.

Those Bristol liftees and patrollers did a good job catching the girl who fell off the lift last week.

Yeah, that was little too close to home for comfort. Just as easily could have been my daughter.

Well it’s practically at the North Pole so make sense. But I agree it shows a lot of grit to night Nordic.

Yep. The lifties were supposed to clean it up/empty as they rotated downhill but they always chose to ignore it and ride the shovel downhill.

Indeed. Just over 1 K nicely groomed and lit. Man made snow. Turn your brain off kinda stuff. But it's all yours at that hour.
Then there's another 2K unlit and groomed without snow making that we use headlamps for when there's coverage.

Edit: Glen Plake shamed me when he dropped in and did a day there when he was doing his small ski hill tour.
Glen hit probably every ski hill in Western NY a few years back. He probably had already skied all the Mountain Resorts.

    Lol. Or a true devotee.

I got to take a few laps down Tiger and North Bowl at the previously mentioned Boston Mills with Glen on his Down Home Tour in 93.

Thought I posted about it somewhere and found this post instead. I don’t know who this mag is, but apparently we skied together a lot and even that same day.

The last tour he did also was PSIA ski schools connection from what I heard.

    And Powder Mag:
Plake is bringing back the Down Home Tour!
That’s right folks, everyone favorite mohawk will be hitting the road again in the newly renovated Glen Plake Down Home Tour. Wildly popular for years, the tour visited small ski areas throughout the U.S., skiing iconic trails with locals and generally spreading good shred vibes nationwide. This iteration will do much of the same, but, instead of a set schedule, Plake’s motorhome will roll wherever it damn pleases, operating without a set schedule and urging fans to merely “be in the right place, at the right time.” That’s one campaign tour I can definitely get behind. Plake for Powder President!
