The boat heist hoist could be the most upstate thing in this thread

So I was looking at the Paul Reubens thread and thinking about the Upstate connection. He was from a little north of Rt 6 in Peekskill.

I had a cousin get blasted and go try and walk the breakwall protecting Cleveland harbor in the dead of winter. He slipped on ice, knocked his head and fell in. Luckily he had a friend next to him that caught him before he went under.

Lucky SOB never told his parents.

Did you tell YOUR parents about any of your close calls? I'm guessing they don't know everything either. Mine certainly didn't. Although they did find out at least the sanitized version of one Upstate episode because I had to say that I couldn't drive in NY state and needed my little sister to drive my car for a family outing. Embarrassing. Fortunately that one didn't jeopardize my life. It's relevant because Albany is Upstate.

I’m positive I left out some critical details of my past when discussing with my parents.

It was the best for everyone I’m sure.

If my dad had any idea what I was up to back then he'd smack me now.

It sure looks like a nice day for it. But I feel like we should have an update by now. Nice day for what? Other than the obvious I mean.

Planning for the 3rd annual, 3-day bikepacking trip is well under way. First year was northern Pennsyltucky. Last year was bottom left corner of NYS. This time we're heading for the CNY.

    Day 1

    Day 2
    https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43907777

Day 3 (the route needs a little love)
    https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43913742

If anyone sees an obvious place we should detour, speak up! (remember, we're on bikes and it might be hard to go ~20 miles out of the way)
