I can’t for the life of me look at all that Saranac and not hear Happy Hour Hero
I still call it The Jake.
I drive past there a couple dozen times a year, based on your recco I'm going to have to stop there now.
Man I love that road (except for all the damned cops). So that makes me want to start a new sub topic here. What are the best roads in The Upstate? IMO the Taconic is top three.
I vote for the Taconic, I88 between Schenectady and Binghamton, and the Northway north of exit 20.
We should include back roads not just Interstates/big roads. Stuff inside the Adirondacks or Catskills and some through the middle are great too. It can be state or county roads but I think we should have minimum distance parameters because there are a few awesome ones but they're less than 10 miles so the goodness is over too quickly. I think things like pavement quality should also play in, there are a whole bunch that are visually amazing or would be a great target for a sports car but you can't let it rip for fear of wrecking a wheel or suspension.
Well, 23 west from the Hudson could qualify, and they just paved it.
23 is good, 28 is good but the pavement is marginal in some sections. If you have a few hours to kill take 28 from exit 19 all the way to US 20, that's a great ride. Is 23 newly paved past Windham?
Dont know, turned at Windham. But that road that connects Windham to Hunter is fresh paved, too.
I think the one that goes from Windham down to Hunter is 32. A good case could be made for route 23. It has two pretty good ski areas on it. Plus chief Martinale diner and it goes through Oneonta, where I lived as a toddler. So yeah, 23 wins.
Niiiiiiice.

I've got quite a list of great ADK roads, but you would be insane to think I'm going to post it somewhere any twit who knows how to use a search engine can find it. Some things don't belong on the internet.
