Getting the Dynafit TLTs: Brakes and crampons? (do you need the housing unit?)

    Well as the title says.

Ordering the TLTs next week and i tried to find out if the crampons need the "Housing Unit" for the toepiece to accomodate the crampons, or can you put them straight on the toepice? (some mixed info on this subject.)

And if you put the housing unit on the toe, does it raise the toe levell with the rearbinding (thus removing the ramp angle..) and you have to rise the rearbinging as well?

I´m gonna order the brakes as well,do they have rise in them itself?
Aand about the brake metall : Are they bendable or do you need to cut the
brake in the middle and weld a extra piece in to it to widen?
The brakes are "for skis 74mm in middle" and my skis are 88mm.
Crampons should fit almost without bending, since they are 88mm wide.Or?

Hey, and i would be thankfull for any tips possible, as i am a new dynafit convertee (got a "bit" fed of lugging im.103 monsters, trekkers and looks around...) so any Do´s and Dont´s well come handy.

Im getting the garmont megarides as well, the should be no suprises with the bindings,eh?

    thx.

I'd skip ordering the brakes, they don't work that well. The crampons need the plastic plate the front binding piece is mounted on to attach.

Strongly consider getting the Comfort rather than the TLT. Lower pre-release potential.

    How much lower?

I mean, i could get the TLTs for over 100 euros cheaper so is the difference that big? And the TLTs would be lighter as well. Im a quite light and gentle skier anyway, are the problems more weight related or just because the TLTs rear pins are shorter?

I recon that Karma ski´s with the TLTs and Havocs (same combination as i will have) and had some incident involving wet snow,pre-relase and locked toe... Could Karma chime in,please?

And CJ, are the brakes just poor desing, jam with the boot or what?
The main reason getting them is that most of my skinnings will start/end from resorts.Especially in italy they have been very anal that you either have brakes or leashes, and i absolutely, utterly, wont wear leashes.Period.
    They suck donkeyballs.
I tried to get along with my naxos and leashes for a week, got bluelipped and ended up buying the brakes...

The pins on the Comfort are longer. I haven't had prerelease problems with my TLT's and I'm no lightweight.

The brakes are a poor design, they only work when the heel is in ski mode, make the heelpiece harder to rotate, and weigh more. The wildsnow.com Dynafit leash isn't bad, or you could make do with the brakes.

    Trigger pulled!

Ended up (thanks to your advices..) in getting the 05-06 Comforts, since the price difference between TLTs and them was "only" 60 euros or something.
Going light is not so light on your wallet...

Well, i guess it will pay of in 2-3 months, when i am hauling my ass up some fjells..

Im just a bit worried about this "shave the grams" stuff.I allready started to calculate my new setups weight..

    "The Light Rig"
    BD Havocs________: 3.600gr
    Dynafit Comforts___: 1.020gr
    Garmont Megarides_: 3.000gr

    Total_____________: 7.620gr

    "The Pig"

    Head Monster im.103__:6.300gr
    Look P14____________:2.800gr
    Rossignol XXX(custom):5.500gr
    Alpine Trekkers______: 1.400gr

    Total_______________: 16.000gr

    Hehhehehheh...

    (i know...no nerd´s..)
