Trading new ebay skis at store for different length?

Anyone had any success trading new skis (current year) at a shop for the same skis, but in a different length?

I'm eyeing some new 05/06 skis on ebay that are shorter than I'd like, and wondering if I'd be able to trade them at a shop for longer ones. REI maybe?

I have done this before with skis I have gotten from various means. (no, none were stolen). I usually go to a shop that I have a good relationship with the owner or manager. You would want to find a place that would be willing to do this prior to buying on Ebay. The issue for the shop is that they will buy in lengths they would most likely be able to sell, and if they enchange for a size they can not sell as easy, they can be stuck with inventory they need to mark down to sell.

Serious a LSS right now is what you need.
this is why your local should know and love you.
if not ski em short, i bet you have, maybe, one moment all year you wish you are on longer skis.
ski em first, if you really over power them, then say you were steered wrong by somebody selling ou the ski
cuz I bet if you walked in green, that is the length, if not shorter, they would recomend.

If you smooth talk many are willing to do it if you have a more desirable length (to the masses) than you want from them.

Thanks all --sounds doable, just a matter of convincing the shop.

I'll see how the ebay bidding war goes.

If the skis you intend to trade are a popular size, and the ones you really want are longer than most people buy, I think you should have no problem.

I won a nice pair of snowboard boots in a competition, and when the manufacturer was too slow in trading them for ones in my size, I just went to a local shop. Since I was trading size 9s for 11+, they were happy to do the deal and get boots in a size that were more likely to sell.
