Unless the manager feels like giving me the bike for free, I'll take my business elsewhere and pay a bit more happily. Corporate giant assholes.

See if you can return the bike to the Performance retail store in Montgomery PA. It might be a long day trip, but it's better than shipping the thing back.

My friend ordered a Bell X ray 50th edition helmet from performance. It was supposed to come with the special 50th edition helmet pod. When he recieved it there was no helmet pod in the box. He called performance and they assured him that thye would find it and it him a helmet pod. Two weeks later he still hasn't heard anything or got it in the mail. He calls back. They tell him that they don't have one and that they will get one from bell for him. 2 more weeks later. He calls back. They don't have one and neither does Bell. He calls Bell. They tell him they'll send one out to him, but there was one in all the helmets that went to Performance. Performance not knowing he calls them and asks them for the pod again. They just give up and refund him $30. Performance sucks

It is still there or at least it was last fall.

    Glademaster,

A guy I work with at REI has a 54cm Salsa Campeon with Ultegra, FSA Gossamer crank, and some other good stuff. This poor sap suffers from new-shiny-itis and has to have a new bike way too often. It's a nice bike and he will include a bunch of extras - that you could probably sell and recoup some of your investment. I think he's asking $1500.

It looks sort of like this one:

    IG,

Thanks for the heads up, but I'm not too fond of the idea of buying a used bike from 2,000 miles away. Performance still sucks ass, I called all of their shops in my area and got this as a response "Thats a road bike, we don't carry them here," not once but twice. They truly suck ass.

Oh well, hopefully it will work out sooner or later somehow. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, but Performance is too thickheaded to even consider any of them.

GM, jump on this Salsa. That is a REALLY sweet frame. There are a lot of shop rats that have extra bikes and you've got a pretty good chance that this has next to no miles on it.

IG, PM sent about the Campeon. I've decided I most likely want it.

I bought 2 mtbs from SuperGo last year, off the net, and both came in about a week. They had killer prices and the bikes have worked very well.

I bought a recumbent road bike this year, off the net and it was alttle slower getting here. But from all the reviews I read, I expected it.

I have to shop the net, because the LBS doesn't carry much, and he treats his customers very poorly.

Sorry to hear about your hassle and hope you get your new bike out riding soon.
I want a 6" travel 20lb MTB. I found the 20lb MTB, but only good for riders under 87 pounds.

Thanks GT, hopefully the Salsa will work out with IG's friend. If not, it would be the 7th road bike I've been shafted out of in the past 3 weeks. Pretty impressive track record so far, huh?

If that had happened to me, I'd have taken up another sport. And I'm old and suppossed to have learned to be patient.

I guess you'll enjoy the new bike all that much more.

Its official. I am now 0 for 7 on road bikes in the past 3 weeks. This is seriously impressive. Hopefully whoever bought the Campeon enjoys it as much as I would have. Oh well, something will come along eventually(at this rate it'll prolly take another year and 125 bikes). Performance Bike still sucks ass though, thats the important part.

Quit yer cryin' and keep looking. It's getting late in the season and the deals are getting better. Watch Ebay, roadbike review, etc, etc...you'll find something.

To stay in shape in the meantime, jerk off profusely (if you're not already). Try to get in a mix of endurance, intervals and sprints. Don't wanna be the weak link in a group ride.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

    Thanks IG.

This whole shopping for a bike thing sucks, the shops that have good prices don't have my size, and the shops that have my size have high prices and won't match prices either. I've sent about 15 emails to people about bikes posted for sale on Roadbikereview.com and gotten 2 replies both of which consisted of "sorry, sold it a few days ago." This is starting to get seriously frustrating. I guess I should just blow all my saved up money on a week of cat skiing somewhere next season instead....
