You mean those gay little stamped out fiddle blocks with a v groove instead of a cam cleat they put on lasers/420s/470s/etc.

    Atleast then you roll.

Dragging a 35 foot long carbon fibre boom in the water typically tends to be far far worse.

Fucking pussy, real men don't use purchase systems and stupid rope tricks?

1:1 Cunningham 3:1 Vang and 1:2 outhaul is where its at
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

Yeah YOU try to reset the vang on an i14 on a plane and not cause the boat to eat shit while you wrap ropes around your dick in hope that cute chick on the committee might actually give you the time of day.

    And real men use hydraulics.

Fuck you and your little bitch ropes.

thats why you put a loop in the end of the vang line.

stick your hand thru and pull as hard as you can.

or just swap out to all harken airblocks.

edit: you almost have to use harken airblocks w/ a cam esp. if you've switched to all spectra running... the fiddles with the V won't hold coverless spectra.... shit just slides right through.

also rachet'ing older style harken blocks are useless with spectra.

been out of class racing since just before the "new $y$tem" went into effect. Back in my day I used to run a 8:1 Spectra vang, never had a problem with it slipping and if you had the sense to release it BEFORE you got to the windward mark ie while two blocked you wouldn't break your wrist. But then again I am a laser-animal

Outhaul was rigged as a 3:1 in front and 2:1 at the clew. I had it set where it would immediately go to the proper downwind depth at the windward mark by taking all the slack out of the 3:1 and pulling up to release the cleat. Cunningham was always a bitch, IMHO that was the one thing they could have used blocks, I went back and forth between a 3:1 system that I never could get enough tension in and a 6:1 system that would never F'ing release Traveler was a covered vectran, that was good stuff, didn't creep under static load and unlike the spectra it actually stayed in the cleat!

I'll take a pic of how many half hitches we throw on the self tailers for halyards on the Andrews 70 tomorrow night.

Seeing one of those slip is horrifying.

When you can stand on a halyard running over the deck to a turning block and it not touch the deck.... thats scary ass loads.

So last night (as is every thursday night) was training/fun night (on the Andrews 70).

    Railing down the bay.

F the school of bluefish those two boats are working.
Run right through the middle of it and almost nail a 15 foot boston whaler (what the fuck were they doing in almost the middle of the bay anyhow? ahhh fuck em) and promptly get yelled at.

Guess someone has never heard of the gross tonnage rule.

    i guess i jinxed it.
had the spin halyard slip about 5 feet when someone didn't put enough half hitches over the winch. forgot the camera. ah well. i'll save that for a windier day when we're drifting along doing 20's
