    Livestrong, but take the shuttle

So I just got back from middle chain-ringing, slo-mo style, most of the climb up to Suntop. About three or four miles up a Jeep passed me carrying two guys and two bikes. As the passenger gave me a big thumbs up I caught a glimpse of a yellow Livestrong bracelet around his wrist.

Maybe it was just the anaerobic haze talkin' but this struck me as very, very funny.
I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.

If you're shuttling, you need these instead.

It would be, "have yet to wear one."

Is it for the same reason you never watched a stage of the tour and think carbon fiber frames are pointless?

Oh, and if you're not gonna wear em, send them to me.

Anybody supporting cancer research is alright with me.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

I don't like to adorn myself. Anyway, my natural good looks are enough and, besides, I like to give the less fortunate looking guys like you a chance.

Were the Tour convienent to watch, I probably would have, but I wasn't inclined to make an effort. Guess I don't really care too much.

Never said CF jobbies were pointless, just question folks when they go ga-ga over one. There's plenty of great steel, aluminum, and whatever frames out there. Having the most technologically advanced doesn't make one a better (or faster) cyclist nor does it necesscelery make for a better riding experience.

Oh, and if you're not gonna wear em, send them to me.

Stupid question: where do people buy those?
I see people come in the store with them all the time, but they don't even bike (or appear to have any interest in the bikes in store, just river tubes or something stupid like that).
Maybe the guy just wanted to get some good DH laps in that day, to each their own I guess.

People used to buy them to support cancer research...at least i did when they first came out. Having had cancer, I wear that thing with pride.

Now it's just plain trendy, which is kind of sad if you think about it. I wonder if people actually know why they are buying it?!

I wear it because I lost my dad to cancer and I was disappointed when so many wore them because of the trend and no other good reason. But then, if they bought them from the LAF then their money still went to research and that's what matters the most. I do think however the trend has mellowed out somewhat and the people that wear them are a bit more in tune with it for reasons other than being trendy.

I hope that's the case because i've come across some folks that don't really know what that money goes to or why they would wear it.

And the same guy who rode multiple shuttles in Moab.

Admit it Spats, you live for the shuttle.

Oh good gawd. All I meant was it gave me a chuckle to see a symbol inspired by arguably the world's strongest climber (cycling-wise that is, calm down now) giving me the thumbs up whilst shuttling by. Irony, not any other commentary, intended. And I'd bet the farm the ONLY thing I can do faster than those guys in the car is get in line for a shuttle!

money from the livestrong bands don't go so much towards cancer research... but providing people living with cancer information and tools to help them deal with it.

anyways, i think its pretty cool that the yellow wristband has completely transcended the world of cycling or even sports, trendy or not. most of the people buying them really only have a vague idea of who Lance Armstrong is.

As long as the money is going to the right cause, isn't it a good thing that they became trendy? The money doesn't know if the person that bought the wristband had any clue what it was supposed to stand for.

Livestrong site has been down for about 2 weeks now.
    Anyone got an extra?

Not sure I'd trust too many of the shops around me.
