We didn't want to make it flat because you would get an insane stack height on the toe which sucks in our opinion. There are a lot of factors to consider while shimming a binding...
Also, no matter what you decide on, you can't please everyone.

Me ... I'm fine with anything from about 4 to my Vipecs which are about 11.

    Others need dead flat.

This might be buried in the thread somewhere but... are the brakes on the
C-raiders easily removable? Any reason they can't be skied without the brakes (like weird attachment points that accumulate snow/ice if the brakes aren't there)? Anyone have a pic of what they look like without the brakes? Weight without brakes?

    Thanks

Yes, three t10 crews hold the plate and the brake assy down. It's quite easy to remove. Moment is going to stock replacement blanks for people running no brakes.

I'll post some photos later today if a brakeless raider heel. I have 97mm brakes, if anyone has 110 would be happy to trade if I ever decide to run brakes.

That would be great, thanks! Any idea how much the brakeless bindings weigh (or how much the brakes weigh)? Yes, thats geeky.

I'm not back in my shop until Tues so can't weigh one until then but the published weight of the C-Raider is 305g (ATK don't say with which brake width) and the Release 10's published weight is 240g. And as the Release 10 is essentially a brakeless C-Raider I'll take a guess that the brake weighs circa 65g.

Yes, except the C-Raiders have the excellent magnetic multi height heel risers. If the Release 10's had those they'd be about perfect.

    Thanks!

Got curious about the brake weight and what it looked like with out them. The brake along with all the parts and screws weighed 47.4 g on my scale which may need calibration. I'd want that filler piece from Moment to avoid packing the void with ice and snow, but mine are staying on. I used to think no brakes was cool but now I like the convenience they provide.

Thanks guys! So if you're going to run them brakeless could you just leave that whole brake assembly piece (Westcoaster's second pic) out? You wouldn't have the "freeride spacer" then, but I've never had that on my Raiders and I dont care. But I cant really tell from the pics if that assembly is important otherwise.

Btw, I finally made my AL07 freeride spacers work with my MTN’s will be making it happen for the trofeo’s this afternoon. Definitely worth the jangle; i could tell i definite difference on the gpo’s with mtns. Much more power and precision from the tail. Thumbs up.

Westcoaster's second pic is the AL09 Freeride Spacer. It's the first pic that has the heel with the brake removed - and yes, you can ski it like that.

I ground 2.5mm off the base with a grinding wheel, and mounted it with a wood screw. I also needed a 2mm ptex shim under the heelpiece. I’ll give it a rip tomorrow and report. Who knows, it may fall off.

Curious to hear how you like this, have the same components but haven't decided if it's going to be worth all the grinding and shimming to get the spacer to fit.

Can somebody tell me what insert screws to order for my Crest 10's? I'm very stupid.

I'm adding a 6mm spacer under the front. Putting in BF inserts to swap the Crests btw my Camox FB and my Corvus.

It's the 12mm pan heads with the heads ground down to 8mm (SVST will do it for you if you ask) for the heel and toe, so I imagine with your 6mm spacer up front you'd just get 18mm for the toes and 12mm for the heels.

Unfortunately tgapp's info is incorrect - he's mistakenly given you the C-Raider or Release 10 spec, I can't remember which and I'm not in my shop to check.

The non shimmed M5 screw spec for the Crest 8 & 10 is 8no. 12mm countersunk flat heads for the toe and for the heel it's 8no. 8mm pan heads with their head diameter reduced to 8mm. You'll then need to add you shim thickness to the toe screw length.

Oh shit my bad, thanks SJ.

I thought the heel unit was the same between the two though?

Props as always, to @spyderjon. In the spirit of teaching a man to fish, I put this FAQ on screw lengths up on the MYOFS thread (comments questions appreciated and I'll edit it as necessary) - link to post # 4505: https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...05#post6185505

Huge thanks to alla-y'all, ordering my BF kit today, hopefully will get rid of the "falling-over-the-tips" feeling and having my knee be like 2" in front of my toes on flat ground (huge calves plus high ramp).

I've always had this issue, and on my alpine setup, going with older Pivots (0 ramp) and Lange RX130 with the spoilers removed, plus custom molding for more upright stance made skiing that setup a revelation for me. Hoping to recreate something close with my tech stuff.

This happened to me yesterday morning, hadn't seen this happen on ATK bindings before. Is this a common occurrence?
