Right? And nothing in the next drainage over, the only thing I had to deal with in my zone were a couple of downed trees, some tall weeds, a few wasp nests, and one huge ass boulder that came off a chossy limestone cliff above and exploded into a tree.

    Damn! That’s awesome. Great pics.

Are you responsible for this?! The drop into the vegetation must be about 30 feet. Looks either unfinished or an old remnant.Click image for larger version.

yeeeew ...thats quite the runout! ....sure that was built as a mtb drop? think even if it was built 5 years ago there would still be dirt on the takeoff ...Maybe someone built it up for a winter hit? ...trying to figure out where that is.

Right off 9k on your right on your way towards black forest coming from Empire pass. I think its a winter hit.

Just below 9k. I think that’s empire express in the background. I could see it being a winter feature. Probably a good transition with some snow on the ground. Otherwise it currently goes into the abyss.

Part of the old old empire trail that had a lot of built stuff on it? There was even a corkscrew on it at one point.

I've got some friends who occasionally will do a loop going up LCC and Snowbird, over the top of AF Twins, down into AF and back over Suncrest. There is a short but very steep hike section getting up and over AF Twins, I bet that's what this rider was trying to do

Sometimes I think I should start doing cool rides like you, then I remember you seem to get a serious injury every summer and I retreat back to my bland XC habits

That's wild. Caltopo shows a trail from the summit of the E Twin heading due south into AF, can't say I've ever noticed it, let alone thought of biking it. I've walked that ridge when partially melted in the winter, it's mean terrain up there. But then again I see people tackling serious shit on the gravel bike, guess if you know what you're doing it's probably not super heinous.

Counterpoint: every injury I've had on the bike has been on mellow XC stuff. I've eaten shit hard riding the gnar but it's always been low speed with a bailout plan in case something happens. Clearly luck is also at play but when I'm serious terrain I'm much more calculated and will not attempt a feature unless I'm 99% confident I can do it clean.
If I'm cruising around mellow trails in PC though, all bets are off. I'll ride as fast as I can, try big gaps I spot on the fly, boof off every rock and root I can see, go for 2-wheel drifts around corners, basically pretend I'm real good at riding bikes. Which I'm not, thus the number of interrupted seasons I've had.
This shoulder injury is not even bike related btw, it was cause by stupidity and inattention.

I've done Main Chute at Alta on the fat bike, but someone was following googlemaps a little too closely IMO

Corkscrew looked sketchy but rode surprisingly nice IMO. One of the few things I could ride on that trail.

    Thanks for the historical photo!

Anybody want a pair of codes from about 2019? Would sell the set for 100 or make an offer.

That pic would be a lot cooler if he was riding a gold Bullit!
One of my all time favorite rides was hitting empire with you and Billy Poole...sending the Sizzler!

Hello again Utards. I'm making my way from WA back to AZ today and was hoping to get a day riding DH at Deer Valley (or someplace better?)

Trying to find out if I am going to get washed out or not. Do the lifts close for rain or just lightning? Will they be shut the next day if it's a hugie? Any weather related insights are appreciated. I'd stay around here and ride but it's smoky AF and that shit makes me irritable.

    Thank you all.
