Descended pinecone for the first time this AM. About as good as singletrack gets around here with the views, dirt, and weather. Such a ripping descent down pinecone to spiro. Miles and miles

No kidding. I've always got a couple extra hangers on hand. For other parts I've had great luck with universal cycles lately.
They are such a ride ender I keep a spare hanger in my pack.
Great ride in the north 40. New shock is amazing and got in 10 miles
Looking 360 from top lookout spot
Can see Logan, basin and the valley

I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

The crest is already filled with brake bumps, time to start getting more creative with routes
Who is the old PC dork with a goatee or soul patch who is taking out rocks on trails? Talks like a stoney surfer bro, acts like a kook.
Huh, that may be him! He (or someone who looks like him) was taking rocks embedded in the ground on Corvair last night near the top first switchback, which is an area that isn't really technical or annoying.
Mechanicals come in series of 3 I hear?
Good thing I had a spare blade at home... Limped to the car from the top of Brighton, not fun without the front brake, drove down the canyon, fixed the fucker, drove right back up and banged out another lap around Solitude. I have 2 more blades coming and I have 2 hangers in the parts bin. No way a mechanical is going to sideline me for a month!
Give it another couple weeks and those holes will reach down to bedrock...
Best part of this is that once the rock is gone you get a nice hole for people to bounce into or brake right before. Within a couple weeks the whole section is a mess of brake bumps and random craters. Rocks are the only thing that prevents our "dirt" from achieving its true purpose: turning to dust and blowing away in wind.
Trails sanitizers are such a pain, they should be punished with having to ride a rigid around Iron Mountain.

You need to do an easy loop to change up your luck!
Next time just remember the beauty of the voile strap. I rode like this on the crest then down bear trap last year.... Worked better than expected![]()
Damn, that is very creative and obviously works well since you survived Beartrap. Bit taxing on the brakes that one!
I'm happy to report that I managed to complete a whole ride without breaking anything on myself or the bike today (other than brake pads which were smoked into oblivion).
A few pics from the center of the Wasatch universe on a quiet day with really pleasant temps:

^^^ That looks awesome!
As I begun to descend MM from the pinecone intersection towards Spiro, I was so excited to ride the old switchbacks that used to be there. I was quickly snapped out of my nostalgic daze and saddened. Oh well. Hardly anyone out this evening. Climbing upper cmg to apex was a fun old school way up to silver queen.

Heh, my Facebook memories thingy just came up with my post lamenting the loss of those fine, rooty, black dirt turns after my first ride post-reroute.

Your friendly reminder that Armstrong>canyons is generally free of traffic, and that insurgent is still rowdy as ever. Vail really blew it with routing the last bit of ricochet where it comes out under the lift but I’ll take that as long as insurgent and ricochet still exist.

trying to put together a 26 (hopefully exactly) mile ride in the "cooler temperatures" area (PC or somewhere close to SLC) that has sub 3k climbing. Shuttle is OK, multiple shuttles or shuttle + bus bump is ok. Any fun ideas?
Mid Mountain Marathon course comes pretty close: https://mountaintrails.org/event-rac...tain-marathon/
It's a bit over on vert, but you could cut some out by starting with Corvair or 9K instead.
I was going to say mid mountain as well. I did a ride from the montage to pinebrook that clocked in at 29 miles, 2000 vert and you could cut out a few miles by catching a bus at Albertson's instead of going to the ecker hill park n ride. We used the buses to get up to the trailhead and get back to town. It's one of my wife's favorite rides in PC. https://www.strava.com/activities/2571120459
Not sure what's going on with the bus system up there since Summit County and PC split transit duties so it may be more of pain to get back into PC at the end of the day.
Shuttle from Canyons lot to guardsmans.
Jupiter peak/ridge>evil empire>black forest>mid mountain>pinecone>wasatch crest>ridge connector>mid mountain>red coat>insurgent>ricochet
25 miles, 2700' up, 5500' down (according to my garmin watch)
Anyone have a tire bead jack that I could borrow? I got some new e13 tires and cannot for the life of me get the tire on the rim.
Some pics from last night. Got up Alta during the sunset then did the rest of the ride in the dark. BMT has got to be a strong contender for best trail in northern Utah especially when they're not letting people bring bikes up the tram. The cool temps felt real nice

It seems like that should be more than 2,700' up, but that's probably about right, actually. Nice route!
I'm definitely a fan. It is a bit of a fitness DH, though. If they had made it about a mile shorter it would be perfect. There's a few shortcuts people have burned in that help.

I got completely cooked riding it from the peak to the White Pine lot a couple weeks ago. Baby Thunder felt 5x harder than usual and I almost landed on my face on the last drop before the WP bridge because my arms were gone and my legs didn't want to gobble up anymore big hits.
Buddy keeps telling me he wants to do a shuttle so we can take it all the way to the mouth of the canyon but I don't think I could handle the extra 2k of jank...
