Was thinking that the unguided season pass + powder upgrade for half price standby days is a much better deal than paying for a 4 guided days at "retail" but don't want to end up skiing Silverton for the first time next year unguided. If the chances of getting to jump in a group on the "standby guided" option are pretty good I'm going to pull the trigger and buy the unguided season pass + upgrade but, if, otoh, it's rare to be able to jump in a group via the standby guided option I may need to reevaluate.
Thoughts?
February is the busy month and March is usually a slight step down in busyness.
One key in getting a standby is to plan for either Thursdays or Sundays, each of which are also a little less busy due to them being travel days for Front Rangers and Albuquerquios/Santa Feans.
The other important factor is to call or email, be nice and respectful to the office folks and ask to be put on a standby list. If you help them, they'll help you. Be low key and helpful and doors open.
Got a decent skiff of snow Monday and it's snowing lightly now with 1-3" predicted for town tonight, so this weekend should be good.
