    Interesting idea from Atomic

Atomic is selling skis called the Triplet. You don't buy a pair, they come in a set of 3. That way, if you break one, you have an extra. Guess the edges are larger/stronger than your traditional ski edge too. The skis are too small for me, but I find the idea interesting, being that it is coming from a big company.

I'm curious as to what the opinions from the maggots are on this. Discuss.

Sorry, didn't know they'd been discussed here before. I'll leave the thread up though as I'm sure many like myself missed it the first time and I like to hear what people have to say.

The atomic rep dude told everyone at my shop that was the basic idea..... Charge a little more per set then 3 friends whill think it is a steal and come in and buy 2 sets....XOfacto they just sold 3 pairs of sticks......

Don't know if there is any truth behind it but it does make sense...

Mix and match individual skis into one of three possible pairs depending on how you feel on any given morning. Kids love the style possibilities, parents love the value and dealers will be pleasantly surprised at the profit potential.
I think that explains it nicely.

So...are there matching triplet bindings or are shops & buyers going to have to figure out who gets stuck with the extra binding?

^glad to see an eye kept on the soul of the sport and product quality.

Didn’t we already have this conversation? I could have sworn that it was concluded that the additional ski is intended to compensate for the mediocrity of the other two.

Would'nt one more ski being added to a standard pair just mean they have to be more economical with the trio? I dont know.

I read about this in an issue of Freeskiier I got a few months back. Thought it was a great idea really. I've never actually broken a ski but it would be useful on those days where you get a nice coreshot and still want to shred the next day without worrying about messing up your new p-tex patch.
