Speaking of the truth and gross negligence, for anyone who missed anything Edward Luce with the Financial Times has a recap of the story so far:

Again and again, the story that emerged is of a president who ignored increasingly urgent intelligence warnings from January, dismisses anyone who claims to know more than him and trusts no one outside a tiny coterie, led by his daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner – the property developer who Trump has empowered to sideline the best-funded disaster response bureaucracy in the world.

People often observed during Trump’s first three years that he had yet to be tested in a true crisis. Covid-19 is way bigger than that. “Trump’s handling of the pandemic at home and abroad has exposed more painfully than anything since he took office the meaning of America First,” says William Burns, who was the most senior US diplomat, and is now head of the Carnegie Endowment.

“America is first in the world in deaths, first in the world in infections and we stand out as an emblem of global incompetence. The damage to America’s influence and reputation will be very hard to undo.”

And, in the spirit of bipartisanship NYC's De Blasio initially attempted to follow simple, faulty ideas from herd immunity ideologists that sounded good, but went against what leading national and international experts say.

Like Trump and De Blasio, Brazil's Bolsonaro also subjected the population to Russian roulette and now Hospitals in Brazil’s largest city near collapse amid huge spike in cases, mayor says:

Ya I was just breaking balls.....Good on you. I grew up in STL, and my interactions with the cops there were......less than ideal.

It's very informative and even dare I say, sometimes entertaining, but as you said, taken as just one datapoint among many.

TDS and anti-TDS is ruining this thread, and so many others.

Maybe it’s time for more moderation. Can’t believe I typed that. Uggh.

Why can’t you faggots take your venom to the pollyass basement.

We can argue science, or even quasi political things like personal freedom vs govt control etc without mentioning a single politician. But no, you Karen’s can’t help yourself. Everything has to be orange man bad or orange man good.

I'm kinda curious about these anti-mask people and what they think about medical professionals wearing masks.

I looked it up and the first recorded use of a mask during a medical procedure is 1897. Have medical professionals been fooling themselves for the past 123 years? Do we owe these anti-mask people a debt of gratitude for freeing us for the false belief that masks help prevent the spread of disease?

Maybe medical people everywhere should have bonfires to burn all their masks and celebrate their freedom from face bondage.

Or maybe they could save them for others who think they are worth something and refuse PPE next time they have a medical procedure.

LOL! Thought about making the "with a mask the facial rec can't catch you!" argument to Qanon folk.
