Me or Austin?

May not necessarily be indicative of actual demand. State unemployment rules often require a certain number of job search activities per week to comply with benefit eligibility. Not sure if those rules have been lifted or modified for the time being but many of those applying may be doing so just to receive benefits.40,000 applicants for the overnight stocker positions
"fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ
"She was tossing her bean salad with the vigor of a Drunken Pop princess so I walked out of the corner and said.... "need a hand?"" - Odin
"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy
So what you are saying is, there was no money in a Corona vaccine. Low demand.
Kind of like how we have our asses hanging in the breeze over testing for anti-bodies or infections. No money in testing for something that may never happen so why spend the development capital.
And that is a great reason why a fully market driven system breaks. We are really great at reacting and eventually coming up with solutions to the next challenge. We really suck at recognizing that challenge and preventing it from becoming a challenge.
By we, I mean humans.
RE: Austin or anyone else here. Maybe lighten up on them a bit. This is a great place to vent or float your 1/2 baked theories or ideas or even fears. Give a little bit. (sorry listening to Supertramp channel on Pandora.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
"Happiest years of my life were earning < $8.00 and hour, collecting unemployment every spring and fall, no car, no debt and no responsibilities. 1984-1990 Park City UT"
truckers for stores were relatively isolated ime & could get by with good PPE (yes, it’d be a problem, but they individually don’t contact many people). It’s things like, oh, pork slaughterhouses as an example, having to close because the workers are all getting sick that’s the risk. Or distribution warehouses. Things that can’t work or work well short staffed before things really backup. And these rolling covidouts pass through the country for months.
Reservations were down 70% for restaurants pre-c19 in many citys, and cancellations way up, just prior to the restaurant closing. Tough to run a restaurant long term like that.

I have empathy for Austin, but at the same time those looking to help are tired of helping then getting our faces pissed on while those we helped yell "yeah, take that libtard". Would be nice for people to wake up and see how complicit they are in at least some of the situation.
You're not a temporarily embarrassed millionaire, you're another guy working to get by the best you can, just like most people. Start working to make reality better for those folks.
Like this.

Wow, Polis, the Jewish, gay governor of CO was just asked by some asshole Grand Junction reporter about how his stay-home order compares to elements of Nazism, (which apparently GOP Minority leader Patrick Neville said) those orders led to a "Gestapo-like mindset.” Polis fought back tears.

Wasn't it Austin that said dead brown babies didn't bother him if it meant that his wait in rush hour traffic was shorter? Pretty sure it was Austin. Sounds like Austin.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.
I doubt it. It doesn't sound like him, as much as I disagree with a lot of what he has posted in the past he seems like a decent person. Wrong, but decent.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot
Ok, ok. After having a nice hike in the woods with my little ones (GASP! The HORROR!), I had some time to do some reflecting and realized that perhaps I was a bit too harsh earlier. Just a bit of venting that perhaps went overboard. Been tough to weather this particular storm. Especially after getting repeatedly kicked in the nuts since shit went down in Big Sky for which I'm STILL paying for.
The truth is that what I want is for those of us who can work with minimal risk to ourselves and others to be ALLOWED to work. I've flown combat missions. Done my time in the Middle East. I've worked sucky, dangerous ass work in the oilfields. I've been around the block so to speak. I'm not afraid of the disease, but I'm also in a minimal risk category. I am 0% worried about that. However, I understand the need not to want to make things worse for others either. All I ask is that we ease back into things sooner than later so that those of us who want to take that risk can get back to business and get our economy back on track, as well as feed our families without having to depend on others or our utterly inept government.
Thank you! And also a very genuine thank you to all the mags who despite our differences would be willing to help a brother out. That said, Adiron's right. I'm not looking for help here. We're not starving and (for now) I can tell the banks and my creditors to kindly fuck off. All I want is to get back to working. Even if it means working night shift at the local factory, which I'm still pushing for. We'll all get through this I know. At least for once in my life we're all unemployed together. Somehow that feels better. Haha.
Such an inscrutable disease, this COVID. In Switzerland alone, COVID-19 has been twice as likely to kill patients in French-speaking cantons of Switzerland than in German-speaking, and more than twice as likely to kill patients in Italian speaking cantons than in French ones.
