Trump met/is meeting business leaders today, who are underlining the importance of testing to reopen. Maybe he’ll finally get it.

You'd better keep pulling up on those bootstraps, son. Just think of all this as conservative character-building.

Seems like Austin could use some humility on political views and a lot of other posters empathy towards Austin. Whether Austin's fault for choices he's made, he's got no job and some kids to support...or at least that is my understanding.

In times like these, we should be taking care of the herd and go back to busting balls after the dust settles.

OMG. A friend of mine just shared this...

Kellyanne on F&F "this is COVID-19, not COVID-1, folks! And so you would think the people in charge of the WHO facts and figures should be on top of that right now."
Best twitter response so far: "She hasn't seen the first 2000 Space Odysseys either."

    Cannot make this stuff up!

True. Thought about this today: Maggots helping maggots.

In the past when someone fell down on his luck, got shit stolen, got sick, whatever, people here always stepped up to help, whether it was cash donations or gear or whatever. We're a fantastic community that helps our own. Why not now?

The logistics are the hard part, who collects money or whatever is needed, and how do we distribute it. I don't have the answers. But while this shit is crazy difficult for me, trying to support my family on 1 income and also home-school my kid, I also recognize I am a lucky one. I have a paycheck that is fairly secure, and while I am not running way in the black, I can certainly spare some bucks to others in tougher spots.

How do we make this happen? Someone with more brains than me can take the lead, start a thread, whatever.

    Chinese Rat Flu

Does anyone think this virus will affect how the populace and politicians address health care? Or, will it be - “nah, b, we good...”

I mean, we have so many private entities rushing forth to provide testing and contact tracking, it’s hard to choose from among the many low cost reliable options....

I have great empathy for anyone struggling right now and don’t wish ill upon anyone. And I also have great antipathy for the GOP and their enablers for leaving people like Austin in the lurch—and for putting the health and safety of my first responder colleagues and family (my bro is an ER doc) at risk.

My hope is that those with Austin’s political orientation will see the light now that GOP policies have personally affected them, but “What’s the Matter with Kansas” was published in 2004 and bootstrap repubs still vote for the oligarch party.🤷🏻

I would have greater empathy for Austin if he weren’t so gleeful in his push to reopen the country at the expense of human suffering and loss of life and clear lack of desire to understand this problem. If he lacks the ability to understand he should have the humility to defer to people who do.

I wasn't talking about just throwing money at Austin, though maybe that is what should happen.

There are certainly other mags needing help who perhaps haven't been so vocal. I was talking about trying to coordinate more than just a one-off help one person, but rather a more organized way of helping some of the mags needing help.

The thread referenced above, https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...ferral-network, is certainly a good start, but it seems like we could probably gather up a pretty good fund and be able to help people out on an ongoing basis. Or is that too ambitious?

That's the humility part from him I was talking about. I'm still in favor of anyone calling the whole thing bullshit to sign a waiver stating that they if they contract the disease, they waive the right to healthcare and hop on a bus out to the middle of the Nevada desert to hang out with everyone else who thinks it's the flu.

Get 503 status and I think you'll get a good chunk of change shoveled in that direction.
