I hear you but it's not like everyone else just stopped dying because they're waiting until covid is over.

I'd be shocked if social distancing or shelter in place didn't result in a drastic reduction in non-covid fatalities.

Agreed. And maybe some people will figure out they should wash their hands after they shit. Not to get too optimistic or anything.

Along those lines what’s the latest theories about transmission? Some people were talking about dogs being vectors, did that one hold water?

Not that I believe the bioweapon theory, BUT if it was somehow true, this would've been one heck of a "test run." If this was something more serious, we'd be pretty damned screwed judging by our utter lack of preparation for a pandemic.

The fact that our government (or the medical industry) doesn't have giant stockpiles of masks and such lying in wait in strategic areas to easily be distributed is pretty unsettling.

Good proof of why I don't trust our government to take care of our needs all that much. And for those thinking the military should help out with mobilization? HA! I used to be a cog in that logistical nightmare of a machine. Right hand barely has a clue what the left's up to. SSSSSOOOOOOO much over-bloated bureaucracy that simply gets in the way of itself. Even during wartime. This isn't a Trump issue either. It's a government issue. Always has been. Always will be.

That's what I've been wondering. I bet this is stopping a LOT of other nasty bugs dead in their tracks. Regular cold/flu strains have to be at an all time low.

another question might be does the USA actualy have a " PUBLIC HC system " ?

but enough america bashing for now eh, been thinking about how china has 1.4 billion people, 81000 cases 3200 dead while italy has only 60 million people, 53000 case and 4800 dead

So more dead in a smaller population base ... it appears to be getting more deadly
It is because China herded infected people into quarantine under threat of death by bullet otherwise. China also built new hospital in a couple weeks. They probably outfit it with stuff on the docks and in lading bays that was scheduled to be sent all over the world under normal trade.

China didn't waffle and fuck around. To their credit they dropped the fucking hammer.

I've got a daughter in Brazil. They have very few documented cases but they're pretty locked down. My daughter got to leave the house for the first time in 6 days to go to the grocery store. Grocery stores and pharmacies are the only things open. She say Sao Paulo (pop. ~22mil) is a ghost town.

Nobody should. But the Italian numbers have the same error factors as the US and the US is trending higher in growth rate. .Therein the concern

Quarantines at home just saturates infections among families. Seems like you gotta go big or go for immunity. Meaning totalitarianesque aggression in testing & isolation or nothing.

Doesn’t that also have a lot to do with how quickly the tests are available? It’s showing documented cases not actual cases.

I'm going to take a wild guess that diabetes is a risk factor for dying of COVID19

It's all moot except for fatalities. That is the only certain number. Available tests and protocols for testing are a smoke screen. Even today, the President urged most people not to get tested.

Diabetes has been a known and well published risk factor since the beginning.

Hopefully it's a risk factor because they don't separate type 1 and type 2. Makes lots of sense if that's the case, because type 2 would surely have additional risk factors.

But don't know for sure and wife is type 1.

The risks are similar for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

In general, we don’t know of any reason to think COVID-19 will pose a difference in risk between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. More important is that people with either type of diabetes vary in their age, complications and how well they have been managing their diabetes.

People who already have diabetes-related health problems are likely to have worse outcomes if they contract COVID-19 than people with diabetes who are otherwise healthy, whichever type of diabetes they have.

this ^^ exaclty Trump's people who would have voted him in have heard him discount a world pandemic as " just the flu " instead of trump listening to real HC proffessionals and dealing with Covid

    Drunk driving alone.

    However, spousal homicides might increase!
