    Monarch Crest Sunday 8/14?

Who wants to go? My usually suspects are doing it tomorrow but I can’t make it, sooo it must be done on a wknd and the sooner the better.

    Any takers?

What's the plan? Shuttle? Out and back? Stats?

Def. a shuttle ride. You could loop it (and I’m a big fan of looping rides) but this one is better as a shuttle. If you have not ridden it, best to do a google about Monarch Crest bike ride to get all the stats. It's long but fun!

No plan as of yet – testing the water. Thinking 9am start time or so. Moderate to moderate/fast pace. In other words – not a lot of standing around taking pictures or safety meetings.

Matt I'd head over there but I only have my big bike; I'd never survive the Crest on a 40+lb beast. I've wanted to do that ride for years though...

Anyway temps are looking nice in the desert--wanna meet me in Fruita or Moab this weekend???

Josh – would love to make a Fruita trip but this wknd is no good. Def. be down for it in the fall though…

I’ve got other stuff going on Sat and I’m trying to squeeze in the Monarch ride on Sun. Too bad you can’t make it. Sounds like we now have a pretty good crew going from Summit Co. I think there is about 6 of us now, all about the same speed. If you wanted to go I can hook you up with a size L Fuel 80. It’s not the best ride around but it is XC and a few less lbs than your ride. You could swing through Summit on Sat and grab it or I prolly could bring it with me.

H-jay – I’m can prolly get a ride in that wknd in the Summit area. Stay in touch.

I will be riding the crest on Sunday as well but seeing that my group has 5 people and yours has 6 I think that might be a bit unwieldy. Look for a silver Cove hardtail though if we happen to over lap.

I'd have totally borrowed the bike and come over...but a truck blew up Highway 6 yesterday

If by some miracle they get the road open by tomorrow evening, I'll let ya know.

So we did the monarch crest/rainbow trail ride yesterday. I'm still tying to wipe the grin off my face. Once again I'm reminded this is one hell of a fun day. Don't let anyone tell you this is a downhill though. It is at least 4 hour ride with a good bit of climbing and you will be pushing if you bring your downhill rig but if you are up for 30-40 miles of dirt with a little bit of everything you need to get down there.

P-Tex did you get to ride it yesterday ? I didn't see any groups your size and there were very few people on the trail in general.

We took some handle bar mounted video...if the camera owner will host it I'll update this with a link. From what I saw it looked pretty cool.

My group fell apart for this wknd. Def. going to do it in the next couple weeks though. Ended up riding Copper Triangle road on Sat and a West Ridge mtb ride on Sunday.

Monarch is generally down in the sense that you end at a lower elvation than you start at but you're right, lots of climbing thrown in to keep you honest! Can't wait....
