We have a spotbot. Can't say it works any better than manual cleaning or saves any time or effort. For dog piss I blot with paper towels until no more piss soaks through the sheets. Then spray with nature's miracle, cover with a dry cloth and leave until dry. For other spots I wet with club soda, let sit, scrub, cover with dry cloth, leave until dry. Our carpet clean guy--ChemDry franchisee--advises against soap and other cleaning products other than club soda or ChemDry's spot remover, which I think you can only get from them. I use the spot remover if the club soda doesn't work and it's very good. I've use other carpet cleaning chemicals but they don't seem to work better than the club soda. I don't recall the reason they're supposed to be bad to use--I think they leave a residue that sets the stain, or something like that.
I have found that dog poop is less likely to leave a stain if you wait until it dries before picking up, assuming it's not diarrhea. Obviously the practicality of this suggestion depends on the size, location and aroma of the poop. My dog weighs 14 pounds, which helps with the poop and piss.
"Can't you see..."
Windex. For spot cleaning.
Such as small motor oil or brake fluid stains you track in on your shoes, 1 inch or max 2 inch spots. Spray with a small amount of Windex (yes, the glass cleaner), then blot dry. Let the rest evaporate, no soap remains to attract more dirt particles.
I'd be hesitant to use on dark colors, test first for discoloration.

Having 2 Great Danes at a time for the past 2 decades, Spotbot ftw. We’ve gone through Bisell (sp?) cleaners, odd brand ones we’ve found and the Spotbot has been king. We’ve had our current one 5 years now and not one issue.
