    Firefux help

Until moments ago I was running Firefox 0.9.3. It took a shit and I lost all my bookmarks etc. Apparently there was a known problem that I didn't know about. So I downloaded 1.0.3 and have to rebuild my bookmarks unless there is some bright spark out there who know how save me this hassle.

THat verison is wayy old. They are up to 1.0.6 get the latest from mozilla.org. That was a unstable release, always make sure you keep it up to date. They have a updater built in now so you don't miss them...

    1.0.3? The latest version is 1.0.6 ...

If you're running XP, go to C:/Documents and Settings/YOURUSERNAME/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/YOURPROFILE/bookmarks.html

Assuming 0.9.x kept data in the same location, that's your bookmarks file... enjoy

I had that same problem, but did a quick google search and found a way to fix it. That link dbp posted seems to be pretty helpful.

Ok, so how about this one... Firefox 1.0.6 won't connect to any websites. IE works fine. I've removed, re-downloaded, reinstalled, all the old simple tricks and nothing works.
As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way.

Sounds like a firewall or DNS issue. This doesn't sound like a browser issue.

Did you just upgrade to 1.0.6? If you have a software firewall like Norton or Zone Alarm, it may not know you have a new version of Firefox. Assuming this was the problem, I would remove it from the allowed programs list and let the firewall find the newer version.

    See here for more info.

I think the directions to apps and data should find the file, sounds about right by my memory. I updated to 1.06 just recently from .93 as well. Not sure I liked it as well. Some things are better like being able to open a tab instead of new page from your email. OTOH I've had some new cookie blocking problems, spyware and popup problems I'd never had before. Could have just been coincidence but it all happened when I updated.

Need to take some time to learn some more of the quirks of it I guess.

So it wasn't just me! dbp, that link gave me the answer I needed to get my default profile back with all my bookmarks. Thanks. Now I have a second profile as well with a new bookmark list started, only more organized.
By the way, I was running 1.0.6 when this happened.
