My guess is Monday the earliest. It’s taken 2 days Has anybody considered skinning up the fire road to bypass the bottom lift bottleneck?

OpenSnow probably isn't accurate for this storm, NOAA storm warning is saying 2-3 feet on peaks.

Edit: NOAA updated to 3-4 feet.

The NWS winter storm warning for LA/Ventura county is calling up to 7 feet in certain areas. 2-3 feet above 4000'

I'm no Baldy Ski Resort die hard, but if this pans out I don' think they are opening Sunday or Monday. Then another storm comes rolling in. This season NOAA has been way less bullish than open snow and always spot on on the snowfall amounts.

I'm very optimistic for this storm, given the cold temps.

For Baldy storms near 32 degrees, you usually get an accurate forecast if you take the sum of the lower end of the forecast snowfall ranges, then divide by two.

I won’t be able to ski Baldy midweek after the storm, but I am thinking about touring options the first weekend of March. The low snow levels mean San Gorgonio could be skinning from the car instead of mud (maybe have to wait for road melt out first) and I wonder if Snow Creek on the north side of San Jacinto will be in play. Might end up at Baldy that weekend anyway.

They might not like you doing this while they work on the lift and control work

Considering Bear is calling that they've already seen 3ft, might be hard to actually get up there tomorrow, though it doesn't look like 330 has been closed yet, just no exception chains.

Baldy closed Friday, if Saturday happens I'd expect a late opening. Sunday will be a snowplay shitshow along Baldy Rd, bring a sleeping bag and be prepared to overnight in your car.

If it’s even 8 ft of snow, you think Baldy Resort can clear that out? And the roads?

I'll bet they open well after the storm when the roads clear. You can email and Beth will respond. They update the website every day. Will be good to tour for a long time prob. Supposed to get 115"

Looks like they aspire to open Sunday

    Wow!!!!

Hopefully they will be able to get things going soon. With a small crew and this much snow it will be difficult.

I have only skied Baldy in May a couple of times, if ever. Hopefully this year that works out.

I might be able to head up tomorrow or Tuesday, depending on when they get things open.

They are already advertising season passes for next year, and I can't blame them. But 799 seems steep. I typically get about 10 days a season at Baldy, sometimes 15. My wife usually gets 5-10. At that price I will probably still get one, but she won't. If they were offering season passes for 500 and the ability to pay 700 for a pass that would cover both this season and next season would be much more appealing. One of my Mammoth ski lease mates, who didn't buy a Baldy pass this season, might well pounce at those prices. I know they want to capitalize on the excitement, but that price is pretty steep.
