Skiing is so much fun. I had a real good time today.
Yes - it was a very good day! I really have a great time skiing with Harry - every 4 minute chair ride is a new story, and is thoroughly enjoyable! A mid-day beer & some fries, 2nd shift, and a parking lot chill-n-chat made for a good session.

Thanks to Nate for the pass for Harry! I'd publish our conversation in getting that, but I don't want to incriminate the innocent...

Gonna make a run to Welch in the morning I think. Maybe catch BaconMeCrazy if he's out. Otherwise - HOT LAPS.

Thrilled we were able to host a WIJARA race today at Chestnut. The snow did break down enough they needed a reset for run 3 but this was all new snow from this week and gates were set from top to bottom. Surreal view of the still open river.

My girls times were strong today against the field especially considering these were her first full course runs on new skis 13 cm longer than last years. Podiums earned. Stoke meter 9.9

Vibes, Harry. Glad to you’re back on the horse!

My new Shaggy’s Ahmeek 105s showed up on Friday and Granite was awesome on Saturday. We were skiing into the lift on the east side all day and the snow didn’t stop.

No pictures of Tyrol today since we weren’t there long. Expected them to open a bit more given all the cold weather, but still good time with friends.

I’m in WI for the first part of the week and was able to get out to Granite Peak after work today. Less snow today than I was hoping for but it was still fun.

Had a coworker join me and we put a solid few hours in turning laps.

Granite is a pretty sweet spot, especially if you catch some fresh snow.

That little cliff/chute zone can turn out really cool if the conditions build right over the season, and there's some decent tree skiing.

I vote for a day trip up to Lutsen if the snow ever decides to pay a visit. Meet up in Forest Lake or Tobies and carpool. My schedule is limited, but I can think of worse ways to spend a day off work

You might be on to something. Wait til March when the spring skiing is good.

I'd be in, hell, I'll drive. Company truck and gas. Lol.

Can't believe Bohemia isn't even planning to open for another week...brutal.

Could still turn around--low ice cover on superior means the lake effect snow guns won't turn off early...March could be solid.

Since today is the first day of the rest of my life, I celebrated by going to Trollhaugen. Beautiful soft snow today. Lightly snowing on immaculate corduroy meant super EZ skiing with minimal people. No hot laps, just a gentleman skier out cruising around. My kind of day.

Saw these bad mofos on the rack. Later in the day the guy loaded a chair with me so I commented on those skis. He said they were his Dad’s, and that they were a lot of work to turn and overall not much fun compared to modern skis. But he takes them out once per season to honor his Dad. That is cool.

    Sounds like a good day.

I'm headed to Troll right now to teach some OET to the new patrollers. Might tell them it's a good ski night and make hotlaps.

They are, but MLK and Pres day weekends and Saturdays through March 9th are blacked out. If you guys head this way I'd be down to meet up. Lutsen would be a haul but I'll be up there over Easter.

Hit Nordic again this weekend. Snow was soft and they had plenty of stuff to huck off, kids and I had a blast.

Both of those kids look real confident in the air. Kudos Dad!

Where is Nordic? Is that in the UP?

Edit: googled it, not the UP. Looks like south of Wisconsin Rapids?

It's near Mt Morris, Wild Rose, Poy Sippi (Soy PeePee), Saxeville.

It's a fun spot, very short but enjoyable with family and friends. When there's enough snow, the trees on lookers right are fun. The bar scene is great for people watching. And the last time I was there... so many telewackers

Woke up to +5F temp and just a dusting of snow. Phone started beeping as texts came in from various maggots pulling the ripcord. Grabbed my earbuds because it looked like I would be rolling solo. Today’s playlist = Blank & Jones.

Got there, around 5 cars in the lot, all in the employee area. Booted up, bought my $30 lift ticket and scored First Chair.

On my second lift ride it dawned on me that I was the only person on the hill. I just kept lapping the hill all by myself. It was 30 minutes until I saw someone else.
