Thanks, my brother, nothing fancy here. Just another skier like all of youse guys.
I would genuinely love to ski these spots you all roll on. You know me, skiing with friends is tops these days so I could have fun with any of yas.

Ummm, what exactly is the standing speed record?

Looking forward to yer visit with bells on, 420 in Boblandia...

Uglymoney - making any Beartooth plans? Gonna be a shitload more coverage than last year.

DJ sadly I couldn't get an early June week off by the time that bid came around so no Beartooth this year. Aspen second weekend in April is the latest I have firmish ski plans for when we can stay slopeside at Snowmass for pennies on the dollar at the Mountain Chalet. Took an available week off in September instead of the BB week... hoping to fish/river camp with my float boat owning friend in Salida.

And if any mags need tickets, I have a few comp passes still available.
Is this still going on Sunday ? I would not mind demoing a Kendo. Or a V-werks Deacon. In a long length to keep up with Djongo.

After recently returning to the Volkl fold, I would think that the Kendo may suit you well.
    Enjoy...

If you are going to keep up with Djongo the long boards, better wax and better waxing techniques are required. Not to brag but I found it easy to keep up with Djongo sitting next to him on a lift.

Mount La Crosse hasn't changed much in the thirty years since I last visited. I suppose that is because it hasn't had to. Most resorts run on money, La Crosse seems to run on soul.

    2019/2020 Midwest Stoke Thread

Fun day at Trollhaugen. I asked for change at the Völkl tent and got a blank stare. Fortunately naedwards81 overheard our conversation and introduced himself. They had a really good assortment of Völkl’s line and right out the gate I got on the Kendo in it’s longest length, 186 I think (??). Sliced & diced the corduroy.

Tried a bunch of skis, naedward81 was probably sick of seeing me. Standouts were the M6 in 184 (longest available), the Deacon which was an insane carving machine, and the Blaze 114 which I would love to use at Big Sky someday. The only Mantra 102 they had was a 177, great ski. Fun switching in and out of all sorts of skis.

Great meeting you Harry!!!! It was a good day, glad you made it!! I'd rather of spent all my time talking to you than the guys that want to compare Racetigers to the Head SL ski. Total, we sent out 475 skis overall on Saturday, so almost 100/pair per bench and I would put money on Volkl being the front runner, especially the Kendo and M6.

Hopefully I will get to Welch on the 18th!!!

Nice work mags, that looks like fun.

The M6 I tried last season in Suisse land was so impressive that I went out on a limb and bought some volkls for the first time since the first gen AC40's, flat and a 192?.
Loved that ski but bent it during a high speed wreck with a concussion to boot.

I was persuaded to buy the untried for me M102's and haven't looked back since.
Being a volkl rep right now prolly doesn't suck. Solid lineup.

See ya soon Harry, Benny was asking about you today.

Love to see UM's girl bashing gates.
Look forward to our next opportunity to ski the Beartooths and maybe sit around a campfire beside Rock creek and make s'mores.

edit: that girl would bash me, through those gates. If I was gonna race her, I'd make a side bet, on her.

Yesterday at Tyrol. 40* and the snow was soft. Still decent coverage, maybe get a couple more weeks depending on how much rain we get

Thanks Harry. As a dirtbag race dad trying to raise a daughter that doesn't take her privilege for granted, I figured out long ago you get a free lift ticket for gatekeeping, which also usually happens to put you in a prime spot to take pictures, so we did that all weekend till the last race on Sunday, taking hot laps down Damnation in between runs. When I went down to watch her last race from the bottom, with that course set, I saw the shot I wanted right away and was stoked to nail it.

Yeah, that ship sailed a couple years ago. This year she decided to let em run and she is scaring the shit out of me sometimes, but I guess watching your kids take risks and put themselves out in the world is what being a parent is all about. She's riding the shark, if anybody listened to the last Blister, Geoff McFetridge is spot on.

Some badass U14 girls at this race, from all over the region, 42 in all, many of them skiing lights out. Her times were super respectable. We can now try to forget about gates till next year.

RE Beartooth, always on my radar, so is EuroBBi. One can be thrown together at the last minute, the Euro thing needs a lot to come together, but hope rings eternal.

I should add my stepson managed a 7th place finish at the IFSA level 2 comp in Eaglecrest Saturday. On a plane back, now he is ranked, which helps him get into comps. He was happy. 21 competitors. He has the orange pants in the middle.

Looks like good weekends were had by all!

Just got back from my Indy trip out to Idaho. Hit up Brundage and Tamarack, and enjoyed the hell out of both places. Met up with BaconMeCrazy and his crew, and had a plain ol' good time. Ms Axe and her sidekick Cooper had a good time as ell, snow shoeing all over the damn place. The conditions were great - no rocks!! About boot-to-knee deep pow on day 1. The drive was sporty - left just after the big Midwest storm, but was relatively smooth back-n-forth considering all.

Couple (probably fuckin sideways) pics for the trip:

    2019/2020 Midwest Stoke Thread

I was chuckling about Axe’s low-$ chopper mitts compared to my dexterous-AF high-$$$$$ Hestras

    UNTIL

I found that new terrain on Trollhaugen’s (east ??) side. Pristine and untracked. And the only way back is TWO rope tows. Goodbye Hestras.

I’m still figuring out this Midwest shit.

It’s dumping across the region right now and I’m hearing rumors that Welch’s pond skim is pushed back to March 25th.

    BBI-Midwest will adjust accordingly.
