Since you are in AK... you need to be looking locally for this. Its not worth your money to have one shipped to you.

Your cheapest option might be to keep checking the REI sales (online at REI Outlet) and during the REI "garage sale" clearances, if there's an REI store near you. These boxes go for cheap through there -- like $250 or so new.

I have one that I might sell, but it'd be a question of getting it from me (Reno) to you (Alaska). I'm not certain on whether I'd sell it though, but if so, probably $200. It's the medium size Rocketbox (now called a Rocketbox 16).

If AKPM doesn't end up buying the Rocketbox from you, i may be interested. I'm in the SF Bay btw.

As others have said, shipping a rocket box is expensive as it is an oversized item. I know, I did it once and would not do it again.

Go for it, I think shipping would make it so it'd be the same price buying one at REI

Still not decided here, but the REI mailer I got yesterday said they've got a 20% off sale on Yakima cargo boxes -- I think it's limited to the "blacktop" (cheaper) ones, not the full lineup. Might be worth checking, AKPM.

Forgive me if I'm wrong on this one, but doesn't AKPM have A pair of 169 PE's? I'm sure they will fit in the back of his new Subie just fine.

Actually, I believe the size of the skis are really irrelevant. What is relevant is the fact that I don't think he has EVER bought any of the 1000 or so items he's posted about.

    XC skis do not count.

I understand your need for a box now, however.

    Where's college again?
