Build a hotbox? Easier to heat just the skis rather than the whole room.

It doesn’t heat an area or a room. It heats what it’s pointed at. If he just wants warm skis I think just point them at the skis and it works.
I have one I make my wife use at her home desk while working so she doesn’t heat whole dam house to 80 degrees. Works great.

I love the idea of a hotbox.

Heh, hotbox.
You could bring your frozen waxed skis in the house. While teh wax is warmingz to scrapeable temp smoke a bowl, drink some whiskey, layer up and put a hotwater bottle on on yer bawlz. Then take the skis to yer garage and scrape in comfort. Spend the money you saved on buying a heater on parking at Solitude

Works really well, easy to operate. I got one when I moved into my house in December and the heat wasn’t functional due to a bad winterizing job. Only a few days, but it was single digits and teens for most of that stretch. Did a good job and I didn’t even die. I keep it around for a backup....
My dad heats his camp (~1,600 sqft) with one that is permanently plumbed/mounted. Puts out a nice heat and is pretty efficient.
focus.
Use the wife's hairdryer, FFS. Why is everyone making this so complicated...

Hey, OP. I kinda did this for a while in my very cold unheated garage, and said fuck it, and put the bench in the warm basement.
Well maybe I'm the faggot America

That sounds like a good idea initially, but then the house starts to smell like hot wax. While that may be pleasing (in a horse/cow dung sort of way), my wife would not be please. For me, it would be easier. My infrared sauna could double as a hot box. Also, even with a tarp, wax cakes onto floor.

I see the problem here. To heat a garage, one needs garage heater. Space heaters are for heating space. Duh.
if 300w tripped a breaker, you have other issues
these are awesome, plus an oil heater

I put a bathroom vent fan in my basement, problem solved and I don’t have to heat the whole garage. Plus you kinda want some ventilation if you’re waxing a few skis at a time. That wax can make you feel kinda funny.
And it’s a basement floor, wax on the floor isn’t that bad. Or put a piece of plywood under the bench/drip area
It least it never blew a fuse.. Yes the 50s wired house has both fuses (inside) and a breaker box (outside)
We've used a couple K1 fuel heaters during longer power outages but gas logs are good enough now that we have a generator to run a couple fans around the house. Kerosene heaters haven't come out of the shed in at least 5 years now.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!
