Special Ed tried this with a dropper post and it was a spectacular fail.

However many are in a shit ton.
Damn, impressive amounts of hate for that thing. Gotta say I'm proud of myself bringing it up!

Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
Anyone else have experience with the Exposure lights? I'm looking at the Joystick for bikepacking. Ability to program light levels, rechargeable with battery pack and light weight are all winners.

Considering cutting off bottom of these fully wrapped cable guides and attempting to drill a hole for zip-ties. Anyone ever done this with decent success, ie worth it?
Yes, I realize just bleeding brake is easier.

Raceface ARC30 with dt swiss 370, I believe 2021 model which apparently aren’t as soft as previous models. Thoughts? Good enough for a stop gap wheel before I save for carbons?

Tough to find anything Of decent quality as of late in the used market as we are all aware. I remember right before COVID a scored some dt swiss with 350’s for under 175….
Can you upgrade the star to 54t on the 370?

Awesome. All good info. I’m grabbing the wheels today…. The build is slowly coming together. Really just need a cassette and tires now. Well and back ordered items to ship [emoji15]

I use a Toro. Great output, solid pattern and hasn't caused me any issues yet. There's a pretty wild assortment of accessories that you can order but they can be a bit tricky to track down in the US. A couple of times I've been about to order a $15 mount component but give up when I realize it will cost $10 to ship. So think through which parts and pieces you'll want and order them all at the same time. Also makes me wonder if warranty support might be a little slow in the states.
Not sure if the Joystick has it, but the Toro has 10 different programming modes, all of which have three output settings. It's all described in hours of burn time. So Mode 1 might have High-2 hours, Medium-6 hours, Low-12 hours. Take a lot of the thinking out of altering light levels and calculating burn time. Which is great for badass through-the-night bikepacking rides but it turns out I do a lot more of those in my imagination than real life. All that functionality is wasted for the majority of my uses which are sub 3 hour night rides.
Also thinking about resale on any MTB with externally routed housing these days is likely lost in the sauce anyways.

If you are looking to replace the brake housing, it’s easy enough to just re-route it through there anyways. You’ll likely cut down on frame rub too.

I would not be afraid of cutting them. A dremel cutoff wheel cut and a drill bit would make a clean job of it.
But first I'd ask why do you want cut them?
-Are you just trying to get the brake hose out once?
-Are you looking to remove the brake hoses multiple times?
-Don't like the holders?
I've used Problem Solvers Housing Guides to run hydraulic hoses on an older frame before.

I forgot about those! I used them for years, they work.

I got mine from Chain Reaction when they were running a large sale. It shipped from Europe with a Euro style wall outlet charger. A number of US based online retailers carry some items from Exposure but inventory is pretty hit or miss. QBP has part numbers for a lot of their items so theoretically local shops could special order items but even before the pandemic QBP inventory was spotty it seemed.
Another distributor (bti) also carries exposure lights, so yeah most shops can order them assuming they're in stock anywhere. I was looking at them last fall but even at cost it seemed like a little much. My current lights are pretty good, although not quite up to riding all night (L&M taz 1200, outbound hangover). Athough I think the hangover with an external battery pack might do it on lower settings.
Have you considered going dynamo hub? I think i'd probably try that if I was going to be doing a tour that involved a lot of night riding. Then you always have a working headlight and can use a brighter helmet lamp when needed.
