I'll give you one. Packed up my bike for a race in Mexico. Forgot the REAR thru axle skewer. The airline lost my bike for 3 days and I didn't know I had forgotten the axle until building the bike up to get on the race shuttle bus. Lucky to get an axle from a more prepared racer 30 minutes before race start. Hectic!
oh my sex, the kevlar weave seatpost takes me back hahaha
i never attained bling status in mtb during that era, loved my m2 stumpy with judy and speed springs but it was nothing special with all the crazy small boutique stuff of the time
but i still ride my '89 epic allez dura ace every night on the trainer and it still spins just as smooth, probably the best investment ive ever made
How many speeds on that DA? Index or friction?
I swear DuraAce 8 that I had on my old Basso is the best feeling brifter/shifter I’ve ever used.

When I got my Occam this summer I swapped the stock FOX34 fork for a Mezzer Pro. When I installed it I remember finding it odd that a bigass enduro fork would still have a post-mount for 160 mm calipers only but since I already had the 160-180 adapter on the FOX unit I just moved it over and rode 400 miles or so with no brake issues. Today I took the bike out to clean it (last ride ended in freezing mud and I didn't have the juice to do it then) and decided to take a look at brake pads. I pull the front pads and what do you know, they show a beautiful 2-step wear pattern with the outer part being brand new and the inner part being about 0.5 mm thinner. Turns out the bigass enduro fork has a post-mount for 180 mm rotors after all, something a quick glance at Google confirms. Ooops, looks like I'm setup for a 203 mm and only braking on the outer 1/2 of my 180mm rotor...
I never thought the front brake lacked power so bumping up to the big rotor doesn't make much sense to me. Problem is, I don't have short caliper bolts sitting around and the ones I can find online are a couple weeks out for delivery and $4 a pop. Anyone in SLC have a set sitting in their gear box gathering dust? M6 x 18.7 standard bolts.
I'd rather give one of you $15 and take them off your hands so I can ride now rather than wait 2+ weeks for holiday shipping to calm down...

That's a super dangerous mistake. Your rotor is 1.8mm thick and should be replaced at 1.5mm. Your new brake pad material is only 3.5 mm thick. So if your brake pad is half lapping your rotor, at just over 30% pad wear (now pad is 2.65mm thick) they have a step equal to 0.875mm. When the lever is pulled those two sides of the high steps (0.875 + 0.875) will press against each other, leaving a void of 1.75mm, meaning the low step (worn part) of the brake pads will not even touch a 30% worn rotor at 1.7 mm. I know thats wordy, but the best way I can describe it.
Ive had a bikes come into the shop with this before. The slight un-alignment of the caliper was the only thing stopping them. I tried to show a younger tech the issue and he couldn't understand the possible issue. So I had him perfectly align the caliper, and then try to use the brake. Once the caliper was aligned the brake pads touched above the rotor, and there was daylight between the pads and rotors. With the wheel spinning freely with the lever fully pulled.
This specific customer did a 70+km/h decent on his road bike the day before.
If you can’t find a mag that’ll send you those bolts, this thread should be nuked.
I’ll look tomorrow.... night
