Wife and I were in the ABV camp, but alas. Yogesh has grown on me a bit although I admit he's an odd duck. Victoria is obviously an incredible player, but I just find her a bit annoying overall.

that would be great if you had priority in answering if you pick the question, but you don't- someone else can ring in before you then they get to pick next, and perhaps snag a daily double- the only advantage to picking is hopefully get a daily double, which means going for the most likely spots for one (800, 1000, 600, 400 is my understanding of the most likely spots in order). Even if you don't get to bet alot (or choose not to if a bad category for you), at least you deprive your opponent of being able to. And that's how the masters played it.

Actually Chuck Forrest did it much early (mid '80s, I believe). Some people call it the "Forrest Bounce" because of this.

ah so he did https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Forrest I guess Chu was the one who resurrected it more recently

I do wish they'd put the topic at the top of the screen for viewers when they enlarge the question after it's picked- especially since players can use short-forms when calling a topic, you often don't know what it is when trying to answer at home

She definitely struggled Thursday but ground out the win. I like it that she gets the Final answer right. Backing into a win by betting smart and getting it wrong is good game play but not impressive.

she's been having some luck with opponents who refuse to bet enough in daily doubles to beat a multi-day champ- I mean you gotta go for it when facing a tough champ like that

She hasn’t faced a lot of other strong players. At least it seems that way. She isn’t flashy but def has some solid trivia knowledge in many categories.

Yeah, she's a very under the radar superchamp. Never seems to dominate, but ends up with a runaway much of the time. I do think she's benefited from some middling competition, but hard to argue with her success.

He's good. I was rooting for the young guy from Hawaii yesterday. Interesting that David is married to Bonnie Garmus who wrote "Lessons in Chemistry." She had to have made a mint from that book.

I watched an episode last night and it's definitely not my thing.

The current Jeopardy champ, Ashley Chan, is cute and a pretty good player. Sitting on three wins as of today.

First time today that she was not entering into final Jeopardy with a run away lead... Pretty good player so far, will be interesting to see how long her streak of wins goes.

We had to make a seinfeld-esque joke about her not being Chinese [emoji1787]

How about the lady last week or the prior week that kept whispering "sweeeeet" under her breath when she got an answer right. we were cracking up

    Donna Chang!

Yes, I remember the "sweet" lady. That was pretty funny.

My wife thinks they're feeding Ashley with categories she'll do well on because they want to make sure she makes the Tournament of Champions. Personally I think she's just a good player.

For sure. I was worried last night when she wasn't wearing shoulder ruffles for the first time, but it didn't seem to cause her any problems.

Too many unforced errors by Ashley yesterday. With four wins she'll probably still make the ToC.
