Just put a deposit on a Kia EV6 AWD. Should have it within a month. Some places are charging up to $10k for a "market adjustment," so I feel lucky to get it for MSRP. It will be interesting to see how practical it turns out to be for driving over mountain passes in winter here in WY.

NICE! Congrats! Can't wait to hear your review on it. Fantastic looking vehicle IMO. My only beef with it is how their marketing douchebags are calling it a "crossover SUV" when it's CLEARLY a sweet looking hatch/wagon. Funny how the masses are so brainwashed by this nonsense. I guess not Kia's fault. They're just telling people what they want to hear.

Call a slick looking longroof a "wagon," and people are like "No way." Take the same exact vehicle, slap some plastic cladding on it and call it an "SUV" and those same idiots are like "SWEET! I WANT ONE!!!" That said, I suppose I shouldn't care what Kia wants to call it, because it's a great looking ride with good specs to go along with it. Post pics when you get it please.

Hope that Kia doesn't spontaneously combust.

    Dude, it's a CUV, not a wagon!

Ok, it's really a wagon, and it looks like a well-thought out wagon. It doesn't have the ground clearance or rough terrain capabilities of an SUV but I t should be a great town, road, and snow car and it is probably more practical than an SUV for most people, even if they think they want an SUV. But, I get that the market wants SUV's so I can't blame Kia for calling it whatever will sell.

I'll definitely report back and share photos once I get it.

Norseman - go for it! Reviews sound amazing on them. Hopefully reality matches the reviews.

If the Kia spontaneously catching fire will make it snow, I guess that would be worth it.

going back to the awd prius.... can you fit 192cm rockered skis inside with 2 or 3 passengers? what about longer xc skis? it's looking like my awd matrix likely needs a trannie rebuild.... considering other (much more expensive) options.

Neighbor has one in order too. It’ll be the first EV I’ll have ever driven and I’m quite excited.
    Congrats!

Yes. It has a 2/3 1/3 seat fold down, and with the driver seat all the way back, and the smaller 1/3 seat down, I can fit my 193 skate skis corner to corner. It’s tight but you can do it. Do it the other way and have the 1/3 be the “up” part and have the rear passenger sit behind the driver, then the skis could go diagonal or lay on top of the armrest.

The Kia EV6 I was expecting to arrive March 9th arrived early! I don't have much time in it yet but I'll post more about it once I have.

First impressions are that it is fast, quiet, very comfortable, and I think it looks cool.

Niiice!!! Congratulations! That's a hot looking ride. Tesla better be watching their back. Looks like the Koreans are starting to kick some ass in the EV department. I want one.

Why is the e Kia on a uhaul trailer pulled by a big gas guzzling truck?
    Kill all the telemarkers
But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers
    Telemarketers! Kill the telemarketers!
Oh we can do that. We don’t even need a reason

    He did 60mph. Then 70mph
    Then all heater and electronics.
    Then a ski rack.
    Then a bike.
    Then a roof box.
    Then a trailer.

    Very cool data points

The same shit applies to ice cars. Other than heating which is free.
Not shitting on ev. Just thought it was cool to see energy of wind drag or higher speeds or more passengers

    PS. That Kia is sexy

Real reason was 1 driver, 2 vehicles. The car came early and dealer is in another town. My wife has a couple crazy weeks coming up and wasn't going to be a able to go to the dealership with me to pick it up, and it was a bit too far to ask a friend to go. I was sad not to get to drive the EV home but now that I have it the ICE truck can sit idle and I will drive the EV powered by my home PV system.

The EV6 has a heat pump heater (and heated seats/steering wheel), which saves a lot of battery compared to the Ford Mustang Mach E's resistance heater. It also can fast charge 10-80% in 20 minutes if you can find a high speed (350 kw) charger.

Is Kia the first with a heat pump?

Never occurred to me. But it’s a ductless split system for cars.
Makes heat or ac. But more efficient than resistance heat. And no need for separate ac system.

Also, funny about heated seats, but in winter it’s a good morning start towards comfort.
I could see not running the cabin heat as much if I had a slight glow on my backside.

Model Y and the 2021+ Model 3 have heat pumps.

Consumer Reports studied the effects of roof racks and hitch racks on gas mileage: https://www.consumerreports.org/fuel...-fuel-economy/

Bottom line - both affect mileage, but roof rack takes the bigger hit. Racks affect the sedan more than a small SUV.

Interesting. I didn't realize, or rather never thought about, how much hitch racks cause drag.
