    NBABUCKS,

Good question, I'm actually not certain.

I would assume v3, although I don't know for a fact. The charger is at the MacArthur location, don't know the exact address, in Newport Beach, and I believe those chargers all have a max of 250kw. I don't THINK they are v4, but I really have no idea.

Honestly, the charging rate with the adapter seemed similar to a Rivian charger, or a good EA/EVgo session, or a Tesla session with a Tesla. Having said that, I didn't do a long charge, I just wanted to make sure I could make the adapter work before I try to use it on an actual road trip.

I believe Tesla has now opened up the network to GM cars, as well as Rivian and Ford, although I don't know if that has gone into effect yet.

    plugboots,

I would agree with NBA, it DOES change how you drive.

My wife and I make the Mammoth drive from Newport Beach about 10 times a winter. It is about 340 miles. Instead of one 15 minute gas stop, we basically have to take two.

It's not a huge deal to me, but it does add a bit of time.

The drive to Mammoth tends to be up, while the drive back is down, so obviously things are more efficient going back.

A 450 mile drive is also long enough that it would add a bit more, in terms of charging. It depends on how fast you want to get there. If you are on a road trip and want to pull an 800 or 900 mile day and you have a couple of people driving, an EV slows things down. If you have one person driving, and are doing 600 miles per day, I actually like the rest on a multi-day drive.

Annoyingly, I don't believe it's possible to put a hitch for bike rack on the G80 Electrified. They have one for the G80, but I guess the Electified is too low a volume vehicle for someone to have designed one. I like the looks a lot, but that probably makes it suboptimal for my uses if it's longer than my van and still can't carry a bike.

First 5k with the Ioniq5 in the books (in 3 months, damn commute) and I gotta the say the efficiency continues to impress:

This is with the AWD model, 2/3 freeway 1/3 up and down the canyons. Charging 1/2 at home and 1/2 with the free Electrify America Hyunday deal.

I scored some dirt cheap OEM wheels with stock all-season tires on them, getting some X-ice for this winter and we'll see what kind of hit I take with the cold + sticky rubber.

Not too shabby! Nice to see that the reviews and EPA ratings were pretty conservative with their figures. My guess is MotorTrend and the rest flog their test cars and end up with worse efficiency than any of us would in real world, daily use. I too was super impressed with the mi/kWh I was getting with my rental Ioniq5. Fantastic vehicle. Will be interesting to see your winter report!

    What's a good miles/KWh? 4.0 seems pretty darned good.

I'd say that 4mi/Kwh combined highway/city is on the more-efficient side of real world use. Our two, Model Y and a Bolt EUV get 3.5mi and 3.9mi respectively.

my lifetime ioniq 5 is 3.2 mi/kwh. I'd say 4.0 is pretty dam good. Winter may change that a bit though.

nice on the cheap set or rims. I got a cheap pair of pull off kia wheels too, nice to have two sets. Sucks paying for two sets of TPMS tho, those are'nt cheap.

TPMS are annoying. Manufacturers are increasingly accomplishing the same thing without the sensors in tire.

Anti-TPMS pro tip: Don't go to the chains (Les Schwab, Discount, etc). Somewhere in your town there's an independent tire guy. If his shirt and hands are clean, that's not him. This guy doesn't care about nanny bullshit. But you have to be that guy too. Don't bring the whole car, just the wheels.

Dude who sold me the wheels had a tire that wouldn't balance properly (according to him). Instead of dealing with said tire he sold me the wheels with tires (for $350!!) and got himself a new set. Weird but I'm not complaining...

    Hopefully that rim isn't bent.

Yes, I know there’ll be no snow left due to my burning all the dinosaurs, etc.
Yeah I'm all in when I can go 250 miles, in cold weather, with snow tires, at 80+ mph, with no stops and have enough juice left to feel safe. Doesn't seem like there is anything available, at least in my price range, that will do that yet.

Longer range model Y will do close to that. They're going for about 26-27k used with like 30k miles. We're debating swapping out Mrs' Forester for one since the used prices are getting so good that the payback is down to 70k miles, well within expected lifetime for the vehicle.

I don't think they do that in real cold weather when it's about 0-10 degrees. Tesla mileage is a lie when it's warm and especially when it gets cold.
