It’s not hard to NOT get scammed on CL. I use it all the time and have never gotten scammed once. You want what I got? Or vice versa? Cool, show up, in person, with cash. It’s not rocket science

The meeting at a public location works most of the time (if the item is small enough that it can be taken to the location (large items like furniture, appliances, etc. can't always be dragged to a McDonald's, convenience store or something. Then you have to use a private location.

There was a series of robberies of people showing up with cash to complete a deal recently not too far away and they were also listing and selling stolen items. Cops even did a sting. Saw a stolen chain saw listed, the cops arrange the meeting to look at the saw, and the guy selling the stolen chain saw pulls a gun and tries to rob the cops. Shooting ensued and the "seller"/ robber ended up with injuries and was prosecuted for attempted murder once he was out of the hospital... No surprise that the cop shooting was considered justified when investigated.

So while I have never had any issues with deals over the years and Facebook marketplace sometimes has more items listed, there still can be issues with any used item sale no matter the method.

Old couple that wanted to buy my truck, refused to meet at my bank to complete transaction.

I imagine they were going to try and pay me with a fake check.

I like Letgo and Offerup more anyhow.

I've made a lot of money selling cars on FB. That and IG are the only two places I advertised.

No point in paying for a website anymore.

I usually try to sell stuff to a friend, on consignment at a local shop, or here on TGR before resorting to Craigslist. However, I usually get best result with CL.

Except last year when I sold a RTT (roof top tent), this guy in Denver messaged me telling me it wasn't worth what I was asking, then started his own post warning people not to buy my tent because it was a Chinese knock off (almost all RTTs are, especially in that price range). He posted links to a wholesaler site where you could get them for cheaper from China (if you bought 30 at a time).
Turned out, he worked for a RTT company that was competing to sell similar Chinese RTTs at high prices in the Denver metro area. I waited a week, then reposted, and sold it for a fair price to a nice lady. Sent the guy an email telling him to fuck off and I knew who he was and who he worked for.

I like the car basinbeater, it sharp. Everybody should have a convertible once in their lives, all the better if it’s a Beemer!
U should probably put some tags on it before you drive it around any more though, no?

Manual with limited slip diff. It also has recent Bilstein b8 (sport) shocks, h&r sorings, and St sway bars. So it rallies in the twisties. It as fun approaching Lee's ferry, and going by Jacobs lake today.
