    Early George Jones was amazing:





    Later stuff is nothing special. He's the BB King of country music. They both lost part of their voice, and were also cursed by the ubiquitous synthesized violins of the era.

    Whatever else you think of Gregg Allman, truly one of the great voices of rock, and Whipping Post is his Nessun Dorma.

    My old band played the tune and I have to say our singer did a creditable job. Not many people have the balls to cover it.
