agreed. hope everything is ok. really really hope so!!!!
Wow - I didn't know this had migrated here too - Thanks, Endless.
I did post an update over on PM, link here.
As of right right now, 11am Saturday, we're keeping an eye on his fever. He's running a bit high & the Docs are concerned that it could be an infection. They're hoping it's not related to his femoral IV because that presents a whole NEW set of problems.
They're waiting for a culture to come back, but they've started an antibiotic in his IV just in case. They've been trying to get him some nourishment through his tube, but to this point, he's still not able to keep anything down. I finally came home for some sleep last night, but apparently, he had a pretty rough night with the feeding tube. The plan is to get ENOUGH liquid norishment into him that his appetite will come back on it's own, but it's a slow process.
Beyond that, he's still undergoing 24hr. dialysis which should continue for another week or so. Ultimately, the hope is that his kidneys will start reacting on their own. It's been four days now, so we're obviously hoping it happens SOONER rather than later. There's not much we can do, other than watch & wait, so that's where we're at now. This whole process is as mentally draining as it is physically, but me & Mom are with him constantly, so he knows he can count on THAT anyways. We're now taking turns with him, so the other can get home & get some much-needed rest after the week we've had. Niklas is staying strong, but you can see in his face he's had about ENOUGH of this shit already. We're gonna try to get him up out of bed today, he's been on his back for 6 days, so his poor little body is pretty swollen from all the fluids. If we can get him a bit more active, it should help him get rid of some of the excess. At least we have a neat view for him - he's in D.C. , so we have a good view of the Capitol, the Washington Monument, and he's especially excited about the SNOW. He knows he has a PASS waiting for him, so he wants to get better and go skiing. He keeps saying that, so we know he's anxious to get out there. I'm gonna try to smuggle a snowball in for him on my way in today, that should makie him smile a little.

Lord knows it's helped MY mental status. The only thing that SUCKS about it is that my hill opened this morning and we're not there to enjoy it. I can't wait to get him on skis! Hopefully soon though...
Thanks, ALL of you - I don't have family down here to lean on, so it's nice to be able to come to TGR & PM and see all the positive vibes. Thanks for the bumps & keeping this fresh, it sincerely means a lot to me that y'all are taking the time to say a quick prayer and/or write a quick note. I'm seeing them, and telling Mom and Niklas about it, so it means a lot to us. Especially me.
Please know that it's helping, and please keep it up. We got a ways to go yet..
I'll be in touch with an update when I can.

Bump for a new day^^^^You're in my prayers this morning.

he'll be bustin ur hill up in no time
Best of luck to you and your kid, EPs.
Hope to hear better news soon.
Oh yeah, if he's thinking about skiing, any chance of some vids making their way into the hospital (if there's any way for him to watch them there)?
If he's into it, it might help take his mind off things for a little while.

Cut & paste - I'm too tired to edit. Maggots / Minions, we know who we are.
Saturday night / Sunday Update:
Not a good night last night and rough day today.
We're having some ongoing problems with the dialysis, poor kid's swollen like a balloon. They're bringing him down for more x-rays to see if the catheter is blocked again. His platelet counts are now normal, but it doesn't appear his body is well enough to produce new red blood cells on it's own..
The Docs gave him a shot of iron & hormones to see if they can jumpstart the bone marrow into producing it. Next step is a transfusion, but we're hoping like hell we can avoid that. Spoke with Mom a few minutes ago & she told me that the kidney Specialist was on the phone & is now saying that we may have to keep him in ICU until we see things take a (definitive) positive step in the right direction.
This is a bitch, Maggots. PLEASE keep Nik in your thoughts and keep this bumped. It's a little emotional & mental relief to me that I can come home every couple nights & see all the good wishes here.
We were told that there is definitely some permanent kidney damage, but the amount of damage remains to be seen.
Docs keep insisting these things are just speedbumps on the road to recovery, but man, we're ready for some happy news.
Thanks Maggots. Feel like such a downer posting this stuff here, but hopefully one day VERY soon, it'll get much better.
Nik needs your prayers.....Please.
Thanks
