    Anyone at the Snowmass NORBA?

I am planning on doing some spectating, but no racing. The girlfriend is going out for some XC racing action tomorrow.

    Random Thoughts:
Got to watch some forty something trashy DH'ers pick a fight with a lift op because they didnt want him to touch their spendy bikes to load them on the lift. I wanted to tell them to start peldaling and STFU if they really had sticks that far up their asses.

Wish there was some sort of freeride contest to watch.

The AGs are probably already there. Keep an eye out for a Blue Giant DH Comp and a Red Yeti DH9. Probably not very helpful info, but it's a start.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

It's been a wild weekend. We couldn't leave SLC until 7 pm Thursday, got in at 1 am on Friday. Up early to register and qualify for 4x (AG only, I still can't get myself to get knocked out in the first round for $50). RAD 4x course though, major BMX style with HUGE hits. AG was ripping in qualifying until her rear wheel fell off on the finish line jump and she wrecked hard. Major bummer as her knee is tweaked again. She did race the 4x but got eliminated in the first round. If she hadn't wrecked, she would have done very well. Her knee ended up keeping her out of the DH ( ).

I had great practice all weekend and ended up doing a DH race without wrecking my guts out. The tree section was very tough but for some reason, I Zen'd out and cleaned it better than ever. I think I ended up 8th or so. The course was a disappointment due to major construction on the whole lower half. We finished at about the 1/2 way point from last year; pro times are going to be in the low 2 minute range!

About 30 minutes before the pro 4x, the nastiest storm blew in. The beer tent tried to fly away (huge tent, free beer!!!!!!) and they canceled everything. Right when we tried to start to walk down the hill, the hail came HARD. AG couldn't run so we got pretty wet. Some of the poor XC guys had to race during the storm, they were miserable. Big bummer as we really wanted to watch the pros; all of the Aussies and most of the Yeti boys were boasting one set of triples that was absolutely amazing. The pros are so fast and so smooth, it actually makes my hair stand on end.

I will say, I saw some folks bitching about a few things that seemed silly. There was almost a fight at the finish line during my group; a couple of guys from Cali were all bent about something. The guys from Cali really need to chill; we are not pros and we all do this for fun, they should treat it as so.

Our boy Flowtron killed it as usual, that guy full on rips. Brian Head next, who's in? I think I will do the dual down there; we may go next weekend (race is in two weeks) to try to get some extra practice in.

Hah! That storm was AWESOME... Didn't get to drink all the beer I had planned on though. One of the swimming pools on the slope filled entirely with mud. Mr. AG, were you in the white tent when it started dumping? Bet i stared right through you many times this weekend. Hope all heals well.

My girl scored 1st in her age group and 3rd overall in her XC race. It was her first one and now she is hooked. I will post all sorts of biking pics later.

    AltaGirl says -
Thanks guys. I'm 99% sure it's nothing serious. I have an impact bruise (there was very minor scraped skin too) on the outside of my knee where the bike banged into it as I was cartwheeling, and the inside (MCL area) was sore - now it's just feeling a little stiff, but not bad, and it never really felt unstable. Definitely doesn't feel anything like when I've had major knee injuries, and it wasn't a twisting issue at all, so I don't think my ACL was involved. Hell, I think my tongue and chin hurt more the first day than my knee did (must've hit my chin on my bars/stem/something because I have little bruise right under my chin and bit halfway through my tongue). Anyway, I felt okay to do the MX race and DH practice after the wreck, but then woke up feeling like crap yesterday and I made myself leave my number plate in the condo so I wouldn't be tempted to do something stupid and try to race DH when my knee wasn't feeling strong. Which was probably a good idea - it's already feeling WAY better. And it was never even close to the swelling/stiffness/instability or anything else of my serious knee injuries.

What a waste of money this weekend though...
