Patriarch is badass. So many other lines in the GYE. So many other humble people.

ID:	430664Bugs to Rogers, Youngs Peak, the Spearhead and a bunch of other lines in that book are “classics”. Having skied the Comstock, I’d say it’s just another blue run in Chamonix and not a “classic”. It was a cool adventure, something that we stared at from afar and then one day went and skied it. I don’t know how it ended up in that book, but it’s fun to see it get so much attention—I am stoked to see more people put some more tracks in it. I wish I was getting paid to do this book report

St Elias has been skied by several parties and attempted by many. There is even a Red Bull movie about skiing St Elias.

Are the unrepeated lines in the Classic Climbs book exceedingly difficult/dangerous or just obscure? The fact that Wirth just went and sent the Comstock leads me to believe that the line is more obscure than anything else.

What you said about St Elias is heavily up to debate FYI.

But as fas as Comstock, that was something I was trying to get out of Greg and Rubens in the episode. From most of the local chatter, it had or hadn’t been repeated (hearing local chatter of two other small groups that have skied it before this past year), simply because it was deep and not heavily sought after. There is just so many insane lines from the road that are either better in quality, more challenging in technicality or just more interesting, that loading up heavy bags to do multi-day trips off the pass just isn’t very enticing to most locals. It just really hasn’t been attempted much because why would you go all that way for a line when better and more fun is closer to the road?

    Anyways, that my interpretation.

It was just a moment in time. Revy/Golden bro brahs posturing for significance, with Greg and his blog a proto version of the 50. Somehow skiing the Comstock got them a relatively obscure 15 minutes of fame. Greg then got asked for his contribution when this made him seem as rad as possible, which was part of his schtick until he reinvented himself as wise, green Greg. In this part of the World there are obviously equally worthy lines everywhere you look, in every direction, as far as you can see, but I don’t care about the arbitrariness of it all, as long as you keep it entertaining, I’ll watch.

Idea for the last/50th episode: FAAAAAAAMMMMMILLLLYYYY RUN on Bloody.

Back in the day, we would all meet up at the top of KT or Granite or whatever top of the mountain we were on at 3:00 for a "Family Run" - all ability levels, all fun, all laughs, and goofs and good times. Beers and Joints. Costumes. Shenanigans. After a morning or full day of single-mindedly pursuing the best snow, lines, and hits with the boys, meeting up with everyone at 3:00 for a run down the groomer or mellow terrain sent us all out into the lot in top style. Everyone could ride it - even the folks newer to snow-sliding. It was a bigass hug for the whole fam.

Now, we do the same thing, but have kids of all sizes in the mix. FAAAAMMMMMILLLLLY RUN for real.

Bloody is relatively easy, attainable by mortals, and begs for a party ski. Put together the whole crew, invite the olds and the youngs, do a Green Creek-style chute-out, costumes, full regalia. Camp out at the base. Sorta the inverse of the snowlerblade episode. Celebrate one helluva journey and all the humans along the way.

Oh, and Alka, you gotta snowboard it.

I tried watching the Wirths guy video linked up on here. I got into maybe 3 or 4 minutes then got really bored. That's me being old most likely and not really caring to watch ski porn anymore. He's young and fired up, that's cool or whatever. I can totally sit through a 50 episode, these are done well and entertaining enough to hold my interest. I really appreciate the no attitude and humble approach to things.

Other than that skiing is kind of silly when you really think about it. There isn't any reason to tie our egos so intensely to all of it. It's literally just recreation, going right left right left, up down up and down. Whatever.

I once was a young insecure man eager to prove himself sliding down the snowy mountains, I can't say I like that kid anymore.

    I'm old now.

don't your sponsors make a kid pack? That was a family friendly line. Pro tip, give the wife a break. Freeze that breast milk and share a snack with your son out touring. The 50 classic idea is pretty meaningless. However am enjoying the videos as it is interesting to see the different mountain ranges. As for this 7 steps had no idea it was a classic. Was not even going to bother skiing it because my partner wanted to ski the trees lower down. In Alaska that line is just another low angle glacier run while the trees and pillows to us were the classic lines in that area.

Something a little like this has been the plan since Day 1. Hence why I haven’t done it in the video series yet when it’s one of the easiest ones to check off…granted I have already skied it a few time. But like was once said here, doesn’t count unless it’s on YouTube.

Yup. And if/when you do take the little one there will be folks telling you that's too risky

Our friend and IFMGA guide got escorted off the mountain in a toboggan at Stevens Pass for cruising groomers with her toddler in a backpack. Pretty sure that ride down was much riskier than anything she was doing before ski patrol showed up and 'saved' her.

No babies/kids in backpacks apparently. They wouldn't even let her ski down on her own hence to toboggan ride.

    The FIFTY

I would be more likely to fall walking from the ski rack to the lodge than to fall on a green groomer

I'm pretty sure the reason my dad took up telemark was to make skiing with baby me more entertaining.
