man, as impressive as all the new skis and graphics are - and they look freaking amazing as always - a pleasant surprise is that the pricing remains the same for 23/24. Well done Melee and crew, well done!
I would assume that Wildcat108tours and Wildcat-tours should be awesome option for Bent-skiers, especially those who use em extensively in the resort. Perhaps including that use for them in the copy could make their appeal even broader. The resort layup ski might be a bit much for some of those skiers.
Yup sorry, was comparing the Tour versions only. The DWT104 is showing heavier than the DWT112. I was really hoping they'd be able to shave off ~200g (which would still be a bit heavier than the old Sierra Tours) and keep the DWT ride characteristics. Very interested to see if that number is accurate. IF so, a 104-waisted 179 touring ski at 1690g/ski seems hefty, especially when they made the DWT112 ski insanely well at the same weight, and they're marketing the 104 as a multi-lap fast and light option.
Again IF the weight is accurate, seems like Moment went more as a DW-style replacement for the Commander Tour 104 (which weighed ~1750g) than a lighter, bigger day version of the DWT. So I guess that saves me $900 which is cool.
Has anyone skies the countach and the dw? Care to compare ?

no, not at all - taking the piss that is.
I am kinda surprised that so many skiers want to ski something as light as the various Bents in the resort (let alone on the Freeride World Tour). Bent 100/110/120s sell like hot cakes over here, no doubt partly because of the graphics and probably also since they are fun, easy to ski skis that a light, poppy and nimble - and fairly inexpensive.
As such, I would assume that a lot of the same skiers (aka skiers that want something light, poppy, fun and capable relative to the weight) would enjoy the tour versions of the Wildcat/Wildcat108s. After all, the tour versions are "just" lighter and slightly softer versions of the regular layup skis. The regular Wildcats (if not w108s) would potentially be too much ski for a lot of the Bent crowd though.
So it was def meant as "hm, could this alternative segment for these skis?", not disrespecting Bents or any such lighter weight skis. 50/50 skis for resort use is all the rage nowadays, so perhaps the "Tour" part of the name is selling them a bit short - their use could be a bit broader than "just" touring.
I almost bought a pair of Wildcat Tours that I would've mounted with Castified Pivots last season to try such a setup![]()
I see the thinking with the Bent Chetler/WCT comparison and as someone who has owned Wildcats and Wildcat tours and toured on many regular core moments I wouldn't recommend the tour version for 50/50. I would rather split use a full weight version. If you have the means a tour ski for touring and in bounds ski for inbounds. I have tried every which way and don't like the compromise. I understand this is not always possible to have all the skis we want as well.
THOTS:
- I wanna Countach. I always loved Lambos as a kid. Now I want drive a pair with my feet.
- A hypothetical Countach Tour would make a whole lotta sense! WCT 108 was great, but I did not like the upturned tail for touring for an everyday mid-winter ski. Flatter tail with a slightly more directional mount point - perfecto! For me anyway.
- Sad that the Commander Tour did not sell enough to keep in the lineup. Such an intriguing idea. I just couldn't get it to pencil for me. A Commander Tour 94 might have done it. But it was pretty heavy for that shape in a 104 width. 1950g for the 188 is pretty stout for a big day ski that will see almost all spring snow (i.e., not pow). My other touring pow skis (110 underfoot) are 1950g and POW skis (128 underfoot Protests) are 2060g. By contrast, my spring ski (a 182 Praxis Yeti) weighs only 1540g/ski and ride damp and stiff! But I'm sure the Commie Tours skied even better once on top of the line...
- Awesome to see that the Voyager has migrated to the new Evo 13/15 platform with the independently-adjustable toe release.
- Chippy Nanners fully in the lineup! Cool.
- Topsheets continue to be so damn pretty it almost pains me to put holes in them. Hell yeah Moment!
sproing!
+1 vote for a Countach Tour! That would be even better than a Meridian IMO. Slightly flatter tail, but still loose and pivot-y

How do they ski differently ? Assuming deathwish is more versatile and forgiving and countach is liked a stiffer wildcat? What kind of skier would each be a fit for ? Thx

agree comparisons on alternate skis would be cool... most like X, but with Z.
I'm looking for an early/late crossover that doesn't wash out - makes a better GS turn than my wildcat, but can shutdown faster and more fun than an OG Katana / Commander = what this sounds like. A bit concerned with speed limit w/ no titanal.
- TRADE your heavy PROTESTS for my lightweight version at this thread

DW is more playful and slarvier by far... Countach holds an edge for better (but it's still 110 underfoot, so not a slalom ski). DW will get bounced around more in rough chop. Countach is more a softer Commander 108 than a stiffer wildcat at the recommended mount point. When I moved it forward it felt more like the wildcat. I'm going to mount mine +1.5-2cm as my home mountains (Alpine and Rose) are tighter. If you have big terrain all the time, ala Squaw, Mammoth I would reconsider. All and all, DW is more "fun" for me (but I've always liked them) and Countach is more business. My tough decision will be which to use as a travel ski?

Great reviews Cy. Your DW review helped me decided if I was going to get another DWT and turn my current pair into lower tide/early season skis or widen my quiver with the DWT 104. Spoiler I'm sticking with the 112
Great reviews keep up the good work.
I enjoy reading your reviews! One of the reasons I picked up the dwt this spring.
