I just mounted the bindings on my Deathwish and found that the base were concave on both skis. Not my pic but it’s basically like this. How much is too much? What would you recommend? Stone grind? Check with Moment folks if I should stop by Reno?![]()
Pm incoming….see the same thing with my true bar…/ can tell something is not quite right during my wax/scrape as I prep them to ski. (Iron is catching on the edges/wax is not melting as it should in certain “concave” spots….as the iron is riding on the edges/instead of gliding smoothly on base.)
Gonna bring to Stowe this weekend to test them out..….I’m hoping they rip like my C98’s.
I’ll wait to ski them before contacting Moment…

DW 104 vs reg DW for 2 ski quiver in north idaho. I've read the DW104 is slightly more damp, does it lose any playfulness with that dampness? Any other noticeable differences in the two skis besides obvious width differences?
Will the Donner Party ever make an appearance in the reserve section?
Three fundamentals of every extreme skier, total disregard for personal saftey, amphetamines, and lots and lots of malt liquor......-jack handy
Other ski currently is a Protest but I'm thinking of switching to something I can use more days. Thinking billy goat, jeffery 116/118, mfree 118.
I spend most of my time charging in chop or finding pow stashes and side hits in trees and wondering which deathwish will do better here. I have the deathwish tour as my touring sticks and love it in trees, in chop not so much, makes sense. Assuming regular layup will greatly improve the chop performance and just deciding between the two widths
I dont think an OG DW makes much sense with a BG / Jeffrey / mfree.
The 104 is noticeably better on the groomed and bumps. I'd say "chop" is a wash because you have less width/mass in the 104, but a bit stiffer build. Which is better in chop i'd say depends on the chop in question...3in of high density == 104, 6in of medium density == OG.
I was surprised at how well my 104s held up to cream cheese over trash at Silver a week ago. Despite being in the shorter length (I don't love skiing 190s when hauling sleds).
Brundo - x2 to Doebedoe’s assessment of the DW 104. It should fit that spot in your quiver nicely. Go 190 if a lot of your skiing is more open terrain, 184 if you are at slower speeds in tight trees. I’m on the 190, I sometimes get behind it in firm bumps and the ski lets me know I’m being a b*tch
I’ve got the WC 108 too and it hasn’t seen snow at all this January… the DW 104 carves way mo betta than the WC 108
Brundo,
I am 6’4” and 210 and am finally clicking with the 190 DW 104 and no Fing way would I want to go shorter…. It is fast edge to edge and holds an edge like a mother… I think it is a breeze to ski and bumps are no issue…. Have not had them in trees but would have no worries as I think the DW skis short with the mount point and major kicked up tail…. Shit I wish it came in a 193…. No way would I want to go 184…

Thanks all, I'll be on the lookout this summer for some 190s or maybe just buy some 2022s over the summer. I've got the DWTs in a 190 and wish I would have gone 184 (anyone want to size up?) but for touring I'm always in the trees, never in chop, and rarely rarely in the wide open, plus it'd save some weight. I agree that the 190 is the right move for resort tho
A few folks have mentioned having a concave base/other finishing issues with new Moments. I just picked up some DW104s--do I need to have the shop grind and do the bevels straight away? I confess I didn't even look at the bases when they arrived.
